Your day as a Direct Support Professional
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) at The Arc ChemungSchuyler in Elmira you will play a crucial role in attending to the daily needs of the individuals served. Your responsibilities will involve performing a wide variety of tasks sometimes repetitive to assist and educate individuals in developing essential daily living skills and habits. Would you be a great Direct Support Professional
To excel in this role as a Direct Support Professional at The Arc ChemungSchuyler in Elmira candidates should possess a range of essential skills and capabilities. Ideally candidates with a background as a Certified Nurses Aid are preferred. Successful professionals in this position must be adept at reviewing understanding and implementing individual plans ensuring the safety and wellbeing of those under their care.
Proficiency in overseeing daily activities such as ADLs meal preparation and transportation is vital. Effective communication skills are essential for engaging with individuals encouraging positive behaviors and promoting social interactions. Additionally the ability to observe document and address individuals needs as well as collaborate within a team setting are key components of success in this rewarding role. A clean and valid drivers license High School Diploma or GED and the ability to work 2nd and/or 3rd shifts and weekends are also required.
