Primary Purpose
The Assistant Coach Womens Volleyball teaches and instructs studentathletes how to perform in their sport including sportrelated fundamentals skills team concepts and safety practices.
Essential Functions
Instructs and coaches studentathletes emphasizing fundamentals skills development conditioning game preparation strategy and safety practices. Exercises discretion and judgment in implementing instructional techniques designed to develop studentathlete capacities. Integrates innovative technology into the instruction of studentathletes to facilitate learning and safety. Maintains an environment that emphasizes academics as a priority making every effort to ensure that all studentathletes meet academic requirements while working to integrate sports into the academic life of the University. Maintains complete knowledge and compliance of rules and regulations governing intercollegiate athletics while working within the departments rules regulations and policies. Assists in the preparation of an annual written plan and goals for the program and the annual assessment of performance in relation to the plan and goals. Maintains discipline in the program promotes fairness understanding and protectiveness of studentathletes while motivating them. Maintains an environment of cooperation and continuous improvement maintaining positive communications supporting the athletic program the University and the University staff. Participates in marketing and promotional activities with media alumni and civic groups consistent with the objectives of the athletic program. Assists with recruiting evaluations official visits and any travelrelated activities of prospective studentathletes. Performs other duties as assigned or requested. This position serves as Campus Security Authority ( CSA ) as outlined by the Clery Act. CSAs have federally mandated responsibilities to report crimes that are reported to them. Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience/Certifications: Bachelors Degree (Two (2) years of fulltime experience in the same/similar position is equal to one (1) year of completed posthigh school education coursework). One (1) year of experience in coaching and/or playing experience in volleyball and/or beach volleyball or in a related role.
Preferred Qualifications
Strong knowledge of effective coaching practices including the integration of technology into instructional methods. Prior experience in sport sciences. Advanced knowledge of NCAA and Conference Rules and Regulations as they pertain to studentathletes. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent skills working with social media. Strong skills with Animoto Canva and other marketing and promotional online platforms. Expertise with Volleystation Volleymetrics and Balltime. Demonstrated event planning and ability to implement a plan. Demonstrated management skills and knowledge of supervision and management practices. Ability to contribute to the recruitment of prospective studentathletes. Positive attitude proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
Work Schedule
Work is performed during standard business hours as well as during nonregular office hours to fulfill business needs.
