Position Summary

The Senior Application Analyst  Outpatient Kaleidoscope Wisdom and Referrals  is an integral member of the Digital Software Services (DSS) team. This position works closely with other members of the DSS team to support identified applications for University Health Network (UHN) including both clinical and business applications. The Senior Application Analyst  Outpatient Kaleidoscope Wisdom and Referrals will participate in support activities system and business analysis system upgrades and testing. The energy enthusiasm and dedication of this individual will allow the Digital Software Services team to contribute to the successes of the organization.

Duties

  • Provides technical support of IT application(s)
  • Maintains strong knowledge of supported applications
  • Provides day to day support of applications including working with customers our HIS vendor Epic and other vendors in troubleshooting and identifying options to resolve issues;
  • Performs application testing of new releases upgrades fixes and other product changes;
  • Participation in roadmap planning for application upgrades in conjunction with business users and vendors;
  • Provides customer service in the form of end user meetings (clinical or business); attend and/or facilitate monthly established end user meetings or ad hoc meetings;
  • Periodic assignment to Digital projects e.g. Epic Optimization Phase demand items new application implementation or integration;
  • Provides advice guidance and training to endusers in the operation of supported application(s)
  • Remains upto date with all aspects of applications in use
  • Monitors literature for information related to the application
  • Identifies training requirements/opportunities to improve application support
  • Works with other Digital teams to ensure high service levels are maintained;
  • Works closely with other Digital Application support teams to solve issues;
  • Documents system problems and resolutions for future reference;
  • Participates in weekly team meetings and huddles;
  • Participates in an oncall roster for 24/7 support coverage
  • Performs cross functional duties as assigned or requested
  • Adhering to Hospital Value Statements and Divisional/Departmental Policies and Procedures
  • Maintains current knowledge of and practice/comply with University Health Network mission and value statements Occupational Health & Safety Act Regulated Health Discipline Act and other relevant regulations legislation and guidelines.
  • Maintains strict patient confidentiality
  • Accesses patients electronic records only as required to perform work duties and shred all waste paper containing patient names.
  • Performs crossfunctional and/or other duties consistent with the job classification as assigned or requested.
  • Works in compliance of the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations reporting hazards deficiencies and contraventions of the Act in a timely manner.

Qualifications :

Qualifications

  • At minimum a bachelors degree in computer science math health informatics or recognized equivalent required.
  • Certification in one or more of the following Epic applications is preferred: Ambulatory ClinDoc Orders Wisdom Kaleidoscope Referrals. Other Epic certifications welcome.
  • Advanced skills using software tools such as Visio Microsoft Project Excel Word and SharePoint and other tools as necessary.
  • Understanding of key IT concepts and components (e.g. networks storage devices OS information retrieval data warehousing applications firewalls etc.) and their interrelationships.
  • Proven indepth analytical and problemsolving skills with the ability to systematically analyze incidents/problems identify root cause draw logical conclusions and determine/recommend practical courses of action.
  • Must have knowledge of tools and techniques for anticipating recognizing and resolving technical problems.
  • Experience with clinical systems e.g. clinical processes nomenclature etc.
  • Experience with one or more clinical/business applications in a large healthcare organization required.
  • Experience in a healthcare environment and strong understanding of the healthcare system and hospital sector preferred.
  • Previous project/systems implementation experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and followup skills.
  • The ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community which directly influences how the system will be built.
  • The ability to communicate effectively with project leadership and subject matter experts.
  • Proficient organizational time management and critical thinking skills with the ability to effectively problem solve and prioritize in a highpressure environment.
  • The ability and interest to learn and apply new technologies.
