The Battery Manufacturing Engineering team is opening new highways with our nextgeneration propulsion systems. Were investing over $50 billion to build some of the most technologically advanced EV manufacturing facilities in the U.S. and E.U. to produce the next generation of Ford electric vehicles. In this position

As a pivotal Battery Manufacturing Engineering (BME) team member youll be at the forefront ofstateoftheart battery pack technologies and processes. Youll collaborate witha worldclass team of battery technology partnersto build brandnew EV manufacturing campuses and transform our existing facilities into innovation hubs.

Leverage Fords rich 120 year history of automotive excellence combined with the dynamic experience of experts from across the EV industry. In this highimpact role you will:

  • Provide technical leadershipto a talented team of over 100 manufacturing engineers.
  • Serve as a critical focal pointfor our product development teams ensuring the feasibility of groundbreaking battery products
  • Act as a catalyst for innovationwith our process technology development teams and partners
  • Directly influencethe creation of battery factories and jobs throughout the world.

Responsibilities

What youll do

  • Lead the charge in battery technology transfer: Guiding new cell formats and architectures into production optimizing for cost efficiency quality and safety.
  • Collaborate with product development: Defining specifications and ensuring the feasibility of battery pack systems.
  • Document and share best practices: Creating a comprehensive billofprocess from manufacturing lessons learned.
  • Drive quality through mentorship: Leading the use of PFMEA and other quality tools.
  • Empower and train your team: Developing a highperforming and knowledgeable workforce.
  • Champion innovation: Identifying and implementing solutions that create a competitive edge.
  • Benchmark and seek out bestinclass manufacturing: Ensuring Ford remains at the forefront of battery technology.
  • Protect intellectual property: Securing Fords innovative processes and methods.
  • Assess technology readiness: Challenging assumptions and driving a disruptive mindset.
  • Oversee projects introducing new technology: Go fast removing roadblocks oversight/support from concept to full reliable and simple industrialization
  • Support operations and launch teams: Ensuring smooth and safe rollout of new processes and resolving quality issues.
  • Leverage data and machine learning: Improving and controlling battery manufacturing processes through data analytics and crisp outcomes.
  • Champion the use of digital engineering tools: Move all engineering and verification of our facilities into the virtual space


Qualifications

What youll have

  • A Bachelors degree in engineering.
  • 10 years of extensive manufacturing experience in assembly techniques and operations.
  • A deep understanding of assembly techniques and their applications. Apply first principles of engineering rigor to each process.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A passion for training and mentoring team members.
  • The ability to lead and inspire crossfunctional teams
  • Experience with digital signal processing image processing and data management.
  • Willingness to travel internationally to support global operations and seek out best practices
  • Preferred: Experience in battery manufacturing including knowledge of future assembly concepts like foam dispensing welding and adhesive application.
