The Assistant Coach Cheerleading/Dance assists the Head Coach in directing the management and administration of the Universitys cheerleading and/or Dance program. Responsibilities typically include some or all of the following: provide leadership in program priorities and initiatives; game preparation training scheduling and coordination of travel logistics for all events administrative requirements practices fundraisers public appearances and overall supervision of the program.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS
- Assists in formulating coaching decisions such as development and implementation of the systems and strategies used conduct of practice and conditioning/training selection of Team members deployment of studentathletes choreographing and teaching cheer/dance routines and all other matters relating to the practice for and event performance as well as the performance of all other duties customarily associated of a head coach of a major Division I cheerleading/dance program.
- Assists with the programs recruiting/ tryout activities which may include studentathlete evaluation; and monitoring eligibility and academic of studentathletes.
- Assists in developing and administering team rules including taking disciplinary action for violations of the Universitys Student Athlete Code of Conduct. Monitors study hall grade reports class attendance appearance and general standard of behavior of the teams studentathletes.
- Implements appropriate risk management strategies at all times; engages in regular consultation with athletic training and other department sports medicine personnel to maximize the safety and wellness of studentathletes; and demonstrates concern for the overall welfare of students at all times.
- Monitors and encourages the regular progress toward an academic degree of those studentathletes who are on the Team and making reasonable and good faith efforts in cooperation with the Universitys faculty administration and the academic support unit for studentathletes to meet all studentathletes academic requirements.
- Promotes an atmosphere of compliance with other coaches and actively supervising studentathletes and other individuals so as to maintain strict compliance with the constitutions bylaws rules and regulations of the NCAA the Atlantic Coast Conference and any other governing body league or conference of which the University may be subject to.
- Establishes and continuously assesses the effectiveness of the internal controls within the unit and compliance with University policies and procedures.
- Ensures employees are trained on controls within the function and on University policy and procedures.
