Job Description
Reports To: Director of Maintenance
Length of Work Year: 12 months
Job Responsibilities:
- Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.
- Reports immediately to the maintenance director any damage to school property.
- Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the schools and other schoolowned properties to ensure their safe condition.
- Cleans and maintains all boilers and other major equipment.
- Participates in necessary painting and general repairs to plumbing electrical carpentry and general mechanical areas.
- Checks periodically for the general fire safety of the buildings.
- Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance upkeep and repair.
- Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies supervisor or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.
- Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in performing tasks listed above.
Desirable Qualifications:
- High school diploma
- Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the basic techniques of electrical repair maintenance and carpentry
- A minimum of one 1 year experience in general maintenance operations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Environment:Standard maintenance shop office and school settings; may require moderatehigh travel; exposure to potentially stressful environments; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; regularly perform inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse environmental and hazardous conditions.
Physical:Sufficient physical ability to performheavy lifting; regularly required to walk sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; may require climbing stooping kneeling or crouching.
Vision:See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.
Hearing:Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
