The Commercial Loan Portfolio Manager is responsible for assisting an assigned commercial loan officer in managing a portfolio of existing and prospective client relationships. This role partners with the assigned commercial loan officer to successfully grow revenue to meet a budgetary goal as directed by senior management through closing new business relationships and retaining and expanding existing relationships.
Underwriting all types of credit account exposure including but not limited to working capital lines of credit equipment loans acquisition financing owneroccupied construction and investment real estate. Leading underwriting discussions with credit team and commercial loan officers. Facilitating meetings with required individuals to ensure the renewal is properly underwritten and that the loan is renewed on or before the maturity date.
Managing an assigned credit portfolio of approximately $to $in loan commitments. Monitoring all covenants and follow ups immediately on any covenants out of compliance.
Reviewing the expiring financial statement reports to ensure the collection of current and pertinent financial information within prescribed portfolio tolerance. Identifying risks related to borrower operations considering the history of business ownership type of business entity and industry/sector of the borrower. Detecting and reporting the early warning signs of problem credits. Minimizing the risk of credit loss to maintain appropriate risk ratings on all loans. Obtaining and reviewing Compliance Certificates Borrowing Base Certificates and associated receivable payable and inventory reports on a timely basis.
Collaborating with operational areas of the credit union as well as the credit unions legal counsel to facilitate the accurate completion of all necessary loan documents and resolution of collateral or documentation exceptions as needed. Reviewing all necessary loan documents with stated credit approvals and loan polices.
Assisting commercial loan officer in the preparation and presentation of loan requests in committee meetings. Providing customer service participates in joint sales calls with commercial loan officers and identifies customer needs.
Five years to ten years of experience in commercial or related underwriting experience.
Bachelors degree in economics finance accounting or similar field.
Considerable knowledge of commercial lending including letters of credit borrowing base lending ACH and transactions secured by real estate collateral including construction speculative and owner occupied. Demonstrated underwriting skills with experience in credit structuring and prudently accommodating customer credit needs. Strong analytical skills and an understanding of general economic theory as it relates to the lending and business environment. Understanding credit analysis risk analysis and accounting and finance principles. Ability to maintain confidentiality of customer and credit information. Proficient in Excel. Understanding of credit union policies and procedures preferred.
