Job Summary:The School Staff Nurse (RN) position is designed to provide direct medical care to the students at Cotting in a pediatric school setting. This person will have the experience and ability to promote the smooth and effective operation of the department on a daytoday basis. At Cotting School you will work in a caring and collaborative to the Health Services lead you will collaborate with a team of nurses and other medical staff including administrative staff faculty and staff students and position offers a unique experience to provide a variety of clinical skills not seen in a typical school within the nursing scope of practice and deliver competent evidencebased nursing care. Provides all necessary clinical treatment as ordered/indicatedEstablish priorities of care effectivelyWork collaboratively with parents and healthcare providers to develop individualized healthcare plans for studentsAppropriately responds to emergenciesAdminister medication safely and accuratelyEducate school personnel regarding healthrelated issues involving studentsMonitor the health status of studentsMaintain logs and recordsDocument student encounters thoroughly and accuratelyProvide personal care for students along with other members of the departmentEstablish a therapeutic relationship with patients (students) and families. Works collegially with faculty staff and afterschool evening and overnight trip nursing coverage as scheduled and shared among the departmentAny other duties relating to health programs at the School may be of Work:Monday Tuesday Thursday and Friday 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm and 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday during the school year and MondayFriday 8:002:15 during the Extended School Year (ESY). This is a 209day position which includes the 5week summer term.
