SR Satellite Ground Systems Engineer

Peraton is seeking a Seniorlevel Systems Architect in Chantilly VA to support our Department of Defense (DoD) customers as part of a highly talented highly motivated and highperforming space Antenna as a Service (A3S) team. As part of our Space Ground Systems (SGS) business unit you will join a very talented highly motivated and highperforming team with the design development integration test and deployment of complex systems contributing to mission success for a variety of tenant stakeholders. What you will do:

• Work closely with DoD customer and stakeholders throughout system lifecycle in development integration & test deployment and operations of a highly sophisticated ground system architecture
• Lead architecture design & integration of cloudbased missioncritical highly available highperformance nextgeneration satellite ground systems in a teamoriented environment
• Develop systems engineeringrelated documentation to include operational concept requirements specifications interface control documents and validation & verification plans
• Conduct system planning and design for expansion of resources to meet program needs
• Support system enterprisewide development and operation testing as well as tenant integration testing and launchbased activities
• Support ground system related trade studies as requested

Required qualifications:

• An active Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Bachelors degree in science engineering or related field with 8 years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field; OR Masters degree inscience engineering or related field with 6 years of experience in a Systems Engineering related field. Four 4 years of additional experience in a Systems Engineering related field may be considered in lieu of a Bachelors degree.
• You have experience in system integration and testing and system configuration of virtualized Command and Telemetry FrontEnd Processors (FEP) and network gateways used in satellite communications
• You have experience with satellite ground systems operations and/or United States Space Force Satellite Control Network (SCN formerly AFSCN) or other commerciallyavailable space satellite networks
• You have experience with digitized signal transport over IP networks
• You have experience with Type 1 cryptographic devices/ appliances
• You have experience working with Windowsbased and LINUX operating systems (RHEL 7/8/9 scripting languages for task automation and system configuration automation software (e.g. Ansible)
• You have experience with distributed computing technologies
• You have a working knowledge of satellite communication modems and waveforms
• You have experience working with virtualized infrastructures such as VMWare Citrix KVM or RHEV
• You can express yourself confidently concisely and accurately through written and oral communications
• You have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with management the customer and tenants across DoD
• You are detail/ process oriented can multitask and the ability to work with minimal supervision
• You are eager to learn about new technologies and embrace innovation

Desired Qualifications:

• You have experience in designing developing and integrating digitized signal transport over IP network architectures
• You have experience with control and status of parabolic and phased array antenna ground stations
• You have experience with multivendor COTS front end processor/ gateway (appliance and virtual) satellite communications integration
  • Example: Bookending an IP network with two different vendor COTS gateways
• You have experience performing technical evaluations of potential products for integration into the IT enterprise
• You have operational system administration skills with RHEL include building systems up from bare metal performing software package installation operating system and application troubleshooting and implementing security hardening
