Job Summary: An Interoperability Architect in Healthcare is responsible for designing developing and overseeing the implementation of cuttingedge systems that enable seamless secure and innovative data exchange between healthcare organizations external providers thirdparty organizations and systems. This role emphasizes the need to continually evolve the interoperability landscape through creative technologydriven solutions. This architect will ensure that healthcare data (clinical administrative and financial) is accessible secure and actionable across various platforms while promoting crossteam collaboration and adhering to industry standards and regulations (such as HIPAA HL7 FHIR CDA and others).This role demands a forwardthinking mindset to build nextgeneration healthcare interoperability systems that empower healthcare providers payers and patients with the right data at the right time while continuously improving the way teams work together and collaborate with external partners. Key Responsibilities: 1 Design and Architect Innovative Healthcare Interoperability Solutions: Design and implement nextgeneration interoperability systems that not only meet existing data exchange requirements but also anticipate future needs for data collaboration across organizations and stakeholders. Leverage cuttingedge technologies (e.g. FHIR APIs cloud services AI and machine learning) to architect solutions that allow realtime data sharing across diverse healthcare systems internally and externally including EHRs payer systems and external providers. Lead the creation of modular flexible architectures that can easily integrate emerging technologies and accommodate new data sources such as wearable devices telemedicine platforms and public health data systems. Innovate in the area of data sharing by evaluating and implementing new models for collaboration such as decentralized data sharing blockchain for data provenance or the use of AIpowered data interoperability tools. 2 Foster CrossTeam Collaboration and Enable Innovation: Actively collaborate with clinical teams business leaders IT departments external stakeholders and vendors to create a shared vision for healthcare interoperability. Develop frameworks that promote collaboration between internal teams (e.g. data scientists engineers and clinical staff) and external partners (e.g. thirdparty vendors insurers and government agencies). Champion the use of modern collaboration tools (e.g. cloudbased platforms collaborative development environments) that streamline communication and integration between healthcare organizations and external entities. Encourage the use of agile methodologies and crossfunctional teams to rapidly prototype and implement new solutions for data exchange collaboration and realtime decisionmaking. 3 Lead the Development of Scalable and Secure Data Sharing Models: Innovate and develop scalable data sharing models that support secure efficient and interoperable exchange of health data across healthcare systems and external organizations. Explore new approaches for sharing sensitive healthcare data (e.g. through consent management systems federated learning models or advanced encryption techniques) while ensuring compliance with regulations like HIPAA and GDPR. Identify and drive the adoption of new technologies such as APIs secure cloud platforms or AI tools that can automate and optimize data sharing improving operational efficiency and enhancing care delivery. Continuously evaluate emerging standards and frameworks for interoperability including those from organizations like HL7 IHE and ONC to ensure the organization remains ahead of the curve in adopting the latest and most effective technologies. 4 Ensure Compliance Governance and Ethical Data Sharing: Develop and enforce data governance policies and protocols that promote secure and compliant data sharing across healthcare providers payers and external organizations. Lead initiatives to ensure that the sharing of data with external parties aligns with evolving regulations including patient consent management data retention policies and data access controls. Work closely with legal and compliance teams to identify and mitigate any legal risks associated with data sharing ensuring patient privacy and confidentiality are never compromised. 5 Explore and Implement Emerging Technologies to Enhance Collaboration: Research and evaluate emerging technologies that can transform healthcare interoperability including machine learning for data normalization blockchain for secure data sharing or AIdriven decision support for realtime collaboration. Propose and pilot innovative technologies that enable seamless crossboundary collaboration such as federated data systems or datasharing platforms that empower patients to control their own health data. Lead the exploration of AI and natural language processing (NLP) to enhance interoperability by enabling systems to better understand classify and share clinical data such as unstructured notes or imaging data across systems. 6 Drive Change Management and Adoption of New Solutions: Be a change leader driving the adoption of new interoperability solutions both within the organization and with external partners. Work with training and support teams to ensure that all stakeholders are educated on new systems and workflows ensuring smooth transitions and improved outcomes. Cultivate a culture of innovation by promoting experimentation and quick iteration cycles ensuring that new solutions can be rapidly tested and deployed to meet emerging needs. 7 Develop and Promote External Partnerships: Lead efforts to build and strengthen external partnerships including with other healthcare organizations payers government bodies and health information exchanges (HIEs). Innovate new methods of collaboration with external organizations such as creating common datasharing frameworks or interoperable health ecosystems. Advocate for the organization in external forums conferences and working groups influencing industry standards and sharing insights on cuttingedge interoperability solutions. 8 Continuous Improvement and Feedback Loops: Establish continuous feedback loops with internal and external teams to monitor the effectiveness of data sharing solutions and drive iterative improvements. Use data analytics to evaluate the performance of interoperability systems and identify areas for innovation and optimization. Foster a culture of innovation by supporting pilot projects hackathons or other creative initiatives aimed at solving interoperability challenges and improving crossteam collaboration. Required Qualifications: 1 Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology Healthcare Informatics or a related field. A Masters degree is preferred. 2 Experience: 5 years of experience in healthcare IT systems integration or interoperability solutions with demonstrated expertise in creating innovative datasharing platforms. Proven track record of designing and implementing cuttingedge solutions for sharing healthcare data particularly with external healthcare providers payers and organizations. Experience working with cloudbased technologies AI machine learning blockchain and other emerging tech within the context of healthcare interoperability. Deep understanding of healthcare standards and regulations (FHIR HL7 CDA HIPAA GDPR etc. and how they relate to data sharing and collaboration. Strong experience in crossfunctional team collaboration working with clinical IT business and external partner teams to deliver innovative solutions. 3 Skills: Expertise in building secure scalable and innovative datasharing solutions in healthcare. Proficiency with API design cloud services and integration platforms for data exchange. Strong background in data privacy security and governance practices as they relate to sharing health data across systems and organizations. Ability to evaluate and integrate emerging technologies that drive innovation in healthcare interoperability. Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with both technical and nontechnical stakeholders. Strong problemsolving skills and an ability to think creatively about overcoming complex challenges in healthcare interoperability. Preferred Qualifications: Certification in Health Information Management or Health Informatics (e.g. CHDA CPHIMS). Familiarity with innovative frameworks like federated learning blockchain or AIdriven interoperability platforms. Experience with implementing or collaborating in largescale national or regional interoperability initiatives (e.g. CommonWell Carequality TEFCA).
