The Department of Natural Resources Division of Mining Land & Wateris recruiting for a Natural Resource Specialist 2/3 Flex in Anchorage.
This position is open to Alaska Residents only.

We are looking for a collaborative and positive team member with an interest in public land management.
Mission and Values/Culture:
This position is housed in the Division of Mining Land and Water (DMLW) within the Department of Natural Resources (DNR). The DNR mission is to develop conserve and maximize the use of Alaskas natural resources consistent with the public interest. The DMLW mission is to provide for the appropriate use and management of Alaskas stateowned land and water aiming toward maximum use consistent with the public interest. The Easement Unit contributes to the DNR and DMLW missions by facilitating economic growth consistent with the public interest working frequently with local utilities the Department of Transportation trail user groups and private individuals. The Natural Resource Specialist 2/3 Flex is responsible for adjudicating land use authorizations and management assignments while managing stewardship activities. This position also mentors a team of specialists in meeting the Division and Department missions in the authorization of appropriate use and management that facilitates the development of state lands consistent with the public interest.

Located on the ninth floor of the Robert B. Atwood building in downtown Anchorage our office has a positive atmosphere geared towards collaboration and teamwork. It offers free parking and a beautiful view of the Chugach Mountain Range. The Atwood building is near coffee shops restaurants shopping the park strip and the Coastal Trail system.
Core business hours are 8:00 AM5:00 PM Monday through Friday. We currently require a 7.5hour daily work schedule with options for an alternate work week and parttime remote work.

Equivalent to those typically gained by:
Education in a natural resource field such as forestry geology agronomy and hydrology law public administration planning economics or a closely related field and/or progressively responsible professional experience in natural resource management.

Special Note:
For purposes of the minimum qualifications natural resource management is defined as the management of the land water mineral forest oil gas agricultural archaeological natural and cultural history park and related surface and subsurface resources. Experience or education in natural resource management means involvement in the above resources exclusively. Those with experience or education in managing these resources may specialize in different management functions (for example planning regulation research or title). All of this experience is applicable to the natural resource management definition. Some positions may require education in a particular area of natural resource management or specific technical knowledge and training gained through specialized education or progressively greater responsibilities at the lower levels of the series.
