Job Description

Job Title Assistant Principal Siloam Springs High School (Grades 912

Qualifications

Applicants must have a current Arkansas Secondary BuildingLevel Administrator License. Applicants must have effective leadership skills and experiences along with a proven background in education. Previous administrative experience is preferred but not required.

Job Goal

The assistant principal is responsible for supporting the principal in organizing and fostering a positive safe and nurturing environment that is conducive to meeting the needs of all students staff and parents.

Specific Job Duties/Requirements:

Instructional Leadership

  • Assist in collaborating with teachers to ensure the implementation of a curriculum that is fully aligned with standards.
  • Assist in ensuring standards instruction and assessments are aligned.
  • Assist in ensuring the application of differentiated teaching strategies and use of rich curricular materials.
  • Assist in ensuring teachers are giving students multiple opportunities for success and providing viable interventions to support student growth.
  • Assist in the monitoring and implementation of PLCs to improve instruction.
  • Monitor classroom instruction formally and informally on a frequent basis and conduct classroom observations and teacher evaluations using TESS.
  • Provide teachers with timely detailed feedback to assist them in their efforts to improve instructional practices.
  • Collaborate with staff to analyze student performance data and utilize results to inform programmatic and instructional decisions.
  • Encourage and support staff participation in professional development opportunities to access researchbased practices that focus on enhancement of their instructional and leadership capacities.
  • Assist in implementing processes and practices to protect instructional time and maximize time spent on quality instruction.

Management Leadership

  • Assist with the supervision and evaluation of all certified and noncertified staff.
  • Assist in the interview and hiring process for certified and noncertified positions.
  • Assist with development of master schedule and student placement.
  • Review and approve time sheets.
  • Develop duty rosters and supervise implementation.
  • Coordinate and monitor supervision of lunch hallways and before/after school time periods/programs.
  • Assist with testing as needed.
  • Assist to ensure equitable allocation and effective use of financial human and technological resources to meet the instructional goals and support teacher needs to maximize student learning.

Facilities Management

  • Assist in supervision of the grounds and building and submit work orders for maintenance needs.
  • Assist in implementing policies and procedures that maintain a supportive safe healthy orderly learning and working environment as reflected in the student handbook.
  • Assist with monitoring facility usage through joint use agreements.
  • Assist in making arrangements for assemblies.
  • Assist in the planning and supervision of safety drills.
  • Assist with classroom and technology inventories.

School Culture

  • Assist in implementing a shared vision and mission.
  • Assist in ensuring improvement plans are implemented with fidelity.
  • Communicate schoolwide goals and actions with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Administer discipline to students in a firm and fair manner.
  • Collaborate with and assist other staff on with all student attendance issues truancies registrations hotline calls and Family in Need of Services (FINS) petitions.
  • Collaborate with other buildings to ensure positive effective transitions.

Parent/Community Involvement

  • Build and sustain positive relationships with families caregivers and community partners.
  • Assist in the planning and facilitation of parent and adopters meetings.
  • Promote school activities in the community and seek to establish partnerships and positive working relationships with community organizations.
  • Supervise home and away night activities (athletics band choir etc. as needed.

Communication

  • Model principles of selfawareness reflective practice transparency and ethical behavior.
  • Maintain open channels of communication with students parents support staff teachers and other administrators.
  • Understand and promote district policies to employees parents and community.
  • Maintain appropriate communication with district administration.
  • Operate as part of the district administration team by supporting district initiatives.
