Summary:
Supervises oversees and verifies receipt of new vehicles delivered to the dealership and delivers them to the PDI department photo booth and wash bay department to ensure they are in a retailready condition before parking the vehicles on the new vehicle lot in an orderly manner. Overlooks and verifies that used vehicles are accounted for in the right staging areas. When all reconditioning is completed ensure vehicles are moved to the right retail area of the used car lot. Oversees daily all new and used vehicle inventory is clean and in retailready condition. To accomplish these objectives you must use good planning scheduling organizing delegating duties coordinating and good communication skills to monitor the activities of your inventory control staff.
Essential Duties: This list includes core responsibilities but other duties may be assigned as needed.
Lot Maintenance: Keep the used vehicle lot neat and orderly moving cars as directed according to dealership display standards.
Vehicle Management: Key up the used cars every morning and key them down every evening. Document and report any missing keys to the used vehicle sales manager. Move vehicles with missing keys to a secure area behind the building inside the fence.
Vehicle Transportation: Pick up and deliver vehicles for customers and vendors as directed by management.
Light Maintenance: Perform light maintenance on vehicles as needed such as replacing windshield wiper blades batteries replenishing fluids adding fuel jumping starts and replacing light bulbs.
Fueling Vehicles: Ensure all vehicles have a minimum of 1/8 tank of fuel.
Display Compliance: Ensure that all required forms stickers FTC buyer guides (front and back) Monroney labels plate frames and True Spot locators are installed and displayed according to dealership standards.
Inventory Preparation: Ensure all new and used inventory has Martin Plates and a Martin Badge properly installed before the vehicle moves to the retail lot.
New Vehicle Inspection: Daily checkin of new vehicle inventory from carriers carefully inspecting each vehicle for defects or missing parts before signing for them. If defects are found ensure proper photos and documentation are promptly submitted to the service warranty administrator.
AAA Vehicle Management: Move all AAA vehicles to the designated detail lot and ensure there are no gaps (missing vehicles) in the front row at the end of each day.
Training and Oversight: Provide onthejob training to all inventory control staff and review their progress.
Inventory Stocking: Stock in all new and used vehicle inventory on the day it arrives.
Equipment Accountability: Keep track of and store all tools gas cans jump boxes radios boots raincoats trucks blowers bobcats etc. All equipment provided to inventory control staff must be accounted for daily.
Maintenance of Equipment: Maintain the wash truck snow blowers leaf blowers bobcat chainsaw billy goat mowers eaters chase car etc. Conduct a weekly check of oil and air filters and perform an overall visual inspection to ensure equipment is problemfree.
Staff Appearance: Ensure all inventory control staff are presentable and dressed in approved Fred Martin attire weather permitting.
Point Car Management: Rotate all point cars every other day and ensure point vehicle tires are dressed daily.
Auction Preparation: Clean and prepare aged used vehicles for sale at auction.
Sales Event Setup: Assist in the setup and takedown of sales events including tents hang tags in vehicles and special vehicle displays.
Flood Team Participation: Become a key member of the flood team by monitoring water levels deploying pumps plugging storm drains and communicating about rising water and lot conditions frequently.
Winter Preparation: Schedule and monitor snow removal and salting of the lot during winter months. Track and maintain all winter snow removal equipment including plow trucks snow blowers snow brooms snow shovels and salt spreaders.
Loss Prevention: Communicate any loss prevention ideas as policies or situations change.
Lot Cleanliness: Help keep the entire lot clean and free of debris spraying weeds as needed using equipment like the eater bobcat broom etc.
Gate Management: Ensure all gates are secured with suitable vehicles at night and that they are removed in the morning.
Customer Parking: Assist in keeping the customer parking area clear of company vehicles to provide ample parking for customers during peak selling times.
Team Collaboration: Strive for harmony with all departments employees and vendors.
Staffing: Ensure there is sufficient staff available daily. Hire reward and discipline staff within the guidelines of the HR department.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge skill and/or ability required.
Valid drivers license and clean driving record
Ability to pass a Drug Screen & Background Check
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
