Job Title: Network Engineer Specialist (Onsite)
Location: Washington DC
Duration:12 Months
Job Description:
The Network Engineer / Specialist will assist the Technology division in supporting the clients network. Performs assignments in the areas of design and planning deployment operations and technical support for IPbased network communication systems that support data voice and video traffic. Conducts thorough and detailed system studies of existing functions and methods of operations and assists in developing network communication system plans to refine elaborate upon and obtain further benefit for Enterprise WAN / LAN IT support. Analyzes systems and assists in creating detailed technical documents to define logical and workable networks.

Skills Required / Desired Amount of Experience Troubleshooting network performance issues 16 Years Analyzing network traffic and providing capacity planning solutions 16 Years Planning and configuring an enterprise network 16 Years Monitoring and responding to hardware software and network problems 16 Years Bachelors degree in IT or related field or equivalent experience 10 Years Knowledge of WAN / LAN infrastructure components to develop implement and maintain highly efficient reliable and scalable Mission Critical and a C 10 Years Knowledge of vendor product and technology to design deploy and operate associated hardware and software. 10 Years Knowledge of the capabilities and limitations of particular makes and models of equipment and software to evaluate the comparative cost effectiveness 10 Years Ability to work well with internal and external teams collaborate and work well in both unstructured & structured environment. 10 Years Experience working in a large organization and familiar with concepts such as enterprise technology standards and change management practices. Documented training and experience implementing and administering a VMWare environment. Experience must be within the past 12 months. 5 Years Hands on experience in Cisco router and Dell server centric networks to include troubleshooting and server administration. 10 Years Experience with SAN NAS SAS and DASD configuration and provisioning. 10 Years Working knowledge of standard TCP/IP networking (subnetting trunking VLANS etc). 10 Years Experience with basic networking hardware. 10 Years Possess either a CCNA CCNP or CCNE certification Design configure and implement Virtual Machine architectures to support Virtual Desktops and well as preproduction SQL environments 10 Years

Responsibilities:
- Provides technical guidance for directing and monitoring information systems operations.
- Designs builds and implements network systems.
- Directs compilation of records and reports concerning network operations and maintenance.
- Troubleshoots network performance issues.
- Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions.
- Monitors and responds to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems.
- Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
- Manages the purchase testing installation and support of network communications including Local Area Network (LAN)/Metropolitan Area Network (MAN)/ Wide Area Network (WAN) systems.
- Performs systemlevel design and configuration of products including determination of hardware OS and other platform specifications.
- Plans largescale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies.
- Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design integration and implementation including personnel hardware software budgetary and support facilities and/or equipment.
- Provides quality assurance review and the evaluation of new and existing software products.
- Provides assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities including computer and telecommunications/communications operations data entry data control LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support operating systems programming system security policy procedures and/or web strategy and operations.
- Provides input to policy level discussions regarding standards and budget constraints.
- Supervises all personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities including all communications equipment on various platforms in large scale or multishift operations.
- Supervises complex operations that involve two or more additional functions such as but not limited to network operations systems security systems software support and production support activities.
- Monitors and responds to hardware software and network problems.
- Provides routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities (including power software communications machinery lines modems and terminals).
- Utilizes software and hardware tools and identifies and diagnoses complex problems and factors affecting network performance.
- Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network.
- Manages the product lifecycle for the network infrastructure to assure operational availability; designs and specifies changes for implementation.
- Receives performance data and analyzes the performance of installed technologies. Proposes and implements any required changes including identifying and planning for any resulting impacts on other technologies.
- May lead a small to moderate sized project or more typically components of a larger project.
- Oversees implementation efforts related to their area of responsibility.
- Conducts complete diagnostics of most network services problems factoring in a strong understanding of the technical architecture.
- Prepares reports on a monthly/quarterly basis for project metrics SLAs and achievements.
- Provides technical guidance and mentorship to team members as appropriate.
- Documents new procedures in a clear and concise manner. May participate in the development of new or modified procedures.
- Performs administrative duties associated with the ongoing operation and support of Citywide network such as billing customer assistance and inventory.
