Key Responsibilities

As the Property Accountant you will play a critical role in managing the financial health and reporting for a diverse portfolio of real estate assets. Your responsibilities will include:

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

  • Prepare monthly quarterly and annual financial statements for assigned properties in accordance with industry standards.
  • Analyze financial performance identify trends or discrepancies and provide actionable insights to stakeholders.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Assist in the preparation of property budgets and reforecasts collaborating closely with property managers and asset teams.
  • Monitor variances and ensure accurate allocation of expenses across operating and capital accounts.

Accounts Management & Reconciliation:

  • Perform monthly bank and account reconciliations ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable functions including rent roll updates invoice processing and tenant ledgers.

Compliance & Audit Support:

  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations lease terms and internal controls across all managed properties.
  • Support annual audits by preparing required schedules documentation and responding to auditor inquiries.

CrossFunctional Collaboration:

  • Partner with internal departments such as leasing operations and legal to support propertyspecific initiatives.
  • Contribute to process improvement efforts and system implementations to enhance efficiency and data integrity.

Qualifications

To succeed in this role candidates should demonstrate the following:

Education & Experience:

  • A degree or diploma in Accounting Finance or a related field is preferred.
  • 35 years of accounting experience ideally within property management or real estate sectors.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in property accounting software (e.g. Yardi MRI or similar) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Familiarity with GAAP and real estate financial reporting best practices.

Key Competencies:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with acute attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.
