Job Description:
We are seeking students who are friendly responsible and excited to serve on our office staff team to support the Department of History! Student Office Assistants report to the Office Manager and provide administrative support to the departments staff and faculty. Student Office Assistants will primarily staff one of the reception desks in the History suites and should always be ready to assist faculty and to greet students and visitors in the office.
Required Qualifications:
Students must be undergraduates at Baylor University. Students must also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience with social media is a plus but not required. Students with a passion for history are especially encouraged to apply.
Job Responsibilities:
Staff a reception desk and greet faculty students and visitors.
Do mail runs to/from the Baylor mail center daily.
Assist faculty with various print copy and scan requests.
Check the inbox daily and assist with Historys conference room reservations.
Answer the reception desk phone and direct calls as necessary.
Keep coffee printer paper and supplies replenished in the History suites daily.
Contribute to the departments social media presence by creating and scheduling posts via the staff teams social media management platform.
Assist in the creation and/or proofreading of newsletters brochures and other materials as needed.
Run oncampus errands as needed.
Help with department events (set up/tear down etc. as needed.
Other additional tasks as assigned by the Office Manager and/or Administrative Associate.
Other Expectations Include:
Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
Ability to comply with university policies.
Maintain files and reports and ensure confidentiality of information.
Perform all other duties as assigned to support Baylors mission.
Exhibit a willingness to take initiative and work independently and collaboratively.
Learning Outcomes:
Student Office Assistants will gain experience working in an academic office setting and obtain skills in areas such as customer service organization and professionalism. Students will also gain skills in problem solving and communication as well as gain insight and knowledge of how an office is managed.
