Job Title: Theater Teacher Grades 912Department: AcademicsReports To: Principal Director of Curriculum & InstructionJob Summary The ideal candidate must have strong subjectmatter expertise in theater arts and drama effective communication skills strong classroom management and the ability to engage students through creative and inclusive instruction. The candidate will prepare and execute lesson plans that reflect thoughtful planning and a deep understanding of theater education. Experience in directing student performances and integrating theater into the broader school culture is highly and ResponsibilitiesPlan and implement rigorous and engaging lessons aligned with theater standards and best practicesTeach 56 sections of theaterrelated courses (e.g. Introduction to Theater Acting Theater Production Script Analysis)Direct at least one major school production annually such as a fall play or spring musicalFoster a classroom culture built on respect collaboration and a passion for the performing artsUtilize varied instructional strategies including projectbased learning and performance assessmentsCommunicate effectively with students families and colleagues to support student learning and growthSupport the Catholic identity and mission of the school through valuesbased instructionParticipate in the broader life of the school including assemblies student activities and service projectsAttend faculty meetings and engage in professional developmentOther duties as assignedQualificationsExperience teaching theater or performing arts in a high school or comparable educational settingCertification to teach in DC MD or VA or willingness to become certified within three yearsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to direct student performances and manage theater productionsCommitment to inclusive teaching practices and meeting the needs of diverse learnersCollaborative mindset and a passion for working in a missiondriven school environmentMinimum Educational Requirements: Bachelors degree in Theater Performing Arts Education or a related field with a commitment to social justice and working with high school studentsMinimum Experience Requirements: Prior teaching experience is preferred. Directing or managing theater productions is a strong asset. Teachers must be certified within three years of Requirements: The candidate should demonstrate a knowledge of the Catholic faith values and educational mission of the Archdiocese of Washington and Archbishop Carroll High ideal candidate will possess a positive and collaborative approach strong interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a diverse and multicultural learning environment.
