Are you a techsavvy professional with a passion for public service and problem solving Do you thrive in fastpaced environments where your expertise keeps systems running and people connected The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly skilled Information System Specialist 5 to play a vital role in supporting our automation infrastructure across the state.
This position will be providing onsite support and primarily located inperson at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution.
About the Job Your Role
As an Information Systems Specialist 5 youll be the key point of contact ensuring the automation systems used by the Department of Corrections (DOC) staff and multijurisdictional partners are operational secure and connect to the DOC and AIC networks. You will primarily support a designated region but also provide expert level support and backup to other areas throughout the state as needed.
This position is essential in maintaining daily operations for our correctional institutions community corrections and various outside agency partners. Youll respond to service requests resolve complex incidents and collaborate closely with endusers and technical teams to ensure seamless functionality of our systems.
This position is represented by American Federation of State County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS) as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Four 4 years of information systems experience in technical support
OR
An Associates degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field OR completion of a two 2 year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field AND two 2 years of information systems experience in technical support
OR
A Bachelors degree in Information Technology Computer Science or related field may substitute for all of the above.
Requested Skills
- Excellent Customer Service
- Experience working with ITSM Tools Microsoft Configuration Manager as well as other Enterprise level software and tools
- Prioritizing and managing multiple incidents and service requests under tight and sometimes competing deadlines
- Proven experience installing configuring and troubleshooting various software/hardware with complex configurations including legacy software
- Proficient documentation and organization skills
- Strong participation in a team environment
- Experience working in or with government law enforcement or corrections agencies
- Must have a valid drivers license

This position requires working inside correctional facilities prisons and Community Corrections offices that includes daily contact with AICs probationers and postprison offenders.
The work schedules driven by user need. Service and Incident request are entered into the Call Tracking System and assigned to the appropriate geographic pool. The incumbent will pull request from the pool in their area and travel to the work site. Requires occasional in state and outofstate overnight travel. Lifting PCs terminals and other computer equipment up to 25# bending crawling and reaching under desks and computer workstations and extensive walking to offices throughout the institutions.
Incumbent may be assigned to various work sites.

The salary range listed above is for nonPERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect an additional 6.95.
