Purpose:To provide all levels of instruction in the home/hospital settings for eligible students.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- Special education certification
- General education teaching certificate preferred
- ESL Certification preferred or ESL Certification required within two 2 years of employment beginning with teachers hired in 201011 school year
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Knowledge of content curriculum materials and equipment of grade level(s)
- Ability to use multimedia equipment materials and computer technology
- Ability to manage student behavior
- Proficiency in oral and written communication
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders
- Bilingual preferred
Experience:
- Must have a minimum of three 3 years teaching experience in a general or special education classroom
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Program Management
- Provide instruction in home/hospital setting (within the district) with responsible adult present.
- Pick up assignments (or access from Schoology) from the teacher(s) of record on a weekly basis and return student assignments in a timely manner.
- Confer with classroom teachers on a regular basis in coordinating the instructional programs and materials utilized and/or needed by each student.
- Report attendance of the student to the home campus on a weekly basis.
- Confer with counselors parents students administrators teachers campus nurses community liaisons and homebound contacts concerning referred students admission to the program as well as reentrance to the campus classroom.
- Evaluate students frequently both informally and formally including collecting data readjusting plans to meet individual needs with continued contact with the Teacher(s) of Record.
- Complete IEP Progress updates and may assist the teacher in writing the IEP for each student during the duration of time spent on homebound.
- Attend staffing and ARD meetings for students on case load.
- Complete all needed timely documentation of SHARS billable services including personal care services.
- Keep records of homebound services provided including services billed through SHARS.
- Establish and maintain cooperative relations with others.
- Maintain accurate and complete records as required by law district policy and administrative regulations.
- Acquire professional growth through attending workshops seminars conferences reading professional materials and/or obtaining course work at institutes of higher learning.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of teachers on the Professional NonSupervisor Performance Evaluation.
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals
Posture: Standing prolonged sitting occasional kneeling/squatting bending/stooping pushing pulling and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying (up to 15 pounds); May require occasional heavy lifting and carrying 1545 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent district wide or instate travel; all campuses are temperature controlled with hard surface floors. Instruction is provided in hospital settings as well as home settings. Home settings may vary with regard to cleanliness noise presence of pets or other environmental factors.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Salary Schedule
Minimum teacher salary is $64100
Teacher Salary Schedule
Salary is based on 187 days. If working less than 187 days the salary will be less.

Bilingual Certified Teacher $5000
Certified Teacher with existing TIA Designation $8000
