Job Summary/Basic Function

The Maryville Club Sports Graduate Assistant will work closely with the Coordinator of
Facilities and Game Management and play an essential role in producing and cultivating an
enjoyable experience for Maryville University students as they participate in numerous
recreational offerings. This position provides direct support in the planning and supervision of
the Maryville intramural sports program as well as the administration of diverse studentrun
sport and recreational clubs.


Essential Duties:

  • Coordinate activities associated with team and individual activities and programs for sport clubs
    and intramurals.
  • Educate and display a thorough knowledge of departmental policies guidelines and procedures.
  • Plan develop coordinate and evaluate promotion and marketing campaigns for the intramural
    sports and sport clubs program.
  • Assist in scheduling the use of intramural sports and sport clubs indoor and outdoor activity
    spaces.
  • Assist in the training scheduling and evaluating of student staff members.
  • Assist and coordinate the setup and breakdown of Maryville home contests.
  • Serve as a role model and public relations figure for the Maryville student body.

Learning Outcomes:

    1. With an ever increasing number of athletic teams more and more assistance is required to host home games across many different locations with a high standard of professionalism. The graduate assistant provides invaluable support to the entire department of athletics especially with more events occurring at concurrent times. The GA would directly oversee many game day setup duties and effective of events.
    2. Develop communication skills
    3. Understanding of game day needs and protocols
    4. Collaboration with coaches staff and studentemployees
    5. Ability to be a self starter

Compensation:

  1. Stipend for the academic year:$3000
  2. Tuition award for the academic year:12credits

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university
  • Admission to the MBA Maryville University Graduate School program
  • Excellent organizational oral and written communications skills
  • Proven strong work ethic and ability to work independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
