Peckham Inc. Footprints Intern
SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Juvenile Services Manager the Internship position is responsible for the direct care of the female atrisk youth entrusted to Peckham. The Internship position will have the responsibility of assisting direct care staff in providing a safe caring team environment for these adolescents. Additionally the Intern will participate in learning to develop implement and document each adolescents treatment plan attend to personal health and behavioral needs of the adolescents and other duties including light housekeeping assisting with homework cooking completing required paperwork and participating with residents in their community activities and recreational activities. Intern will assist direct care staff in crisis intervention and participation in clinical consultation and treatment conferences. Our contract requires that this position be filled by a female. This internship is for at least 10 hours per week. Intern may be assigned to any shift or day to complete minimum required hours.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Be a positive role model for children (in and out of the facility).
- Teach daily living skills.
- Provide a safe and caring environment.
- Assist direct care staff with recordkeeping and documents
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment Daily
- Promote Peckhams vision value culture and commitment to excellent customer services to all team members staff customers and stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned and with assistance of direct care staff.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
- This internship has no supervisory responsibilities.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Currently enrolled in the Juvenile Justice Program at Lansing Community College or human services related field of study at a local college/university
- Must be physically and emotionally capable of performing essential functions.
- Ability to work in a Child Caring Institution in accordance with the State of Michigan.
- Must be willing to receive First Aid CPR restraint certification and other applicable training.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Some experience working with female adolescent and/or atrisk population is a plus.
