JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Assistant Principal

Location: Bradley East

Reports to: Building Principal

FLSA Class: Exempt

Revised Date: March 2022

SUMMARY

The Assistant Principal is a leader responsible for contributing to and communicating a vision and focused plan for improving student achievement and student behavior; creating a community of continuous learning for all staff and students; and fostering a culture of high expectations for all students. The Assistant Principal is charged with creating a safe and supportive school climate.

DUTIES

  1. Manage student supervision issues and enforce school behavioral expectations.
  2. Counsel students and parents about school and district policies.
  3. Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations.
  4. Assist in the planning developing and implementing of individual student behavior plans.
  5. Serve as a resource to staff in dealing with classroom issues.
  6. Assist in developing programs to promote positive student behavior as well as intervention strategies.
  7. Confer appropriate consequences for behavior including detention and student discipline.
  8. Establish procedures for safe storing and integrity of all public and confidential school records.
  9. Attend required committee meetings.
  10. Communicate regularly with parents seeking their support and advice so as to create a cooperative relationship to support the student in school.
  11. Implement social/behavioral groups to assist students in developing appropriate prosocial behaviors
  12. Review and analyze behavior data with building administration to identify school level grade level and/or student behavior needs.
  13. Gather data and participate in the MTSS process
  14. Evaluate certified and noncertified staff
  15. Attend building and district team and committee meetings
  16. Perform any other duties during the school day as assigned by the principal

QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Required: Valid Professional Educator License (PEL) with Administration Certification
  2. Preferred: Initial Evaluator Training Must complete by October 1 2025
  3. Preferred: Elementary School / Early Childhood experience
  4. Ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with those contacted in the course of work (students parents and staff).
  5. Ability to understand and follow basic oral and written instructions.
  6. Ability to communicate to students parents and staff in an acceptable/courteous manner.

SCHEDULING

  1. 200 day position. Certified Staff hours: 7:45 3:30
