Job Description

Instructional Technology Specialist

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Must comply with all employment criteria legally established by the Lee County Board of Education
  2. A minimum of three 3 years of successful teaching experience
  3. Hold a masters degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a valid Alabama Professional Educator certification.
  4. Experience with educational technology with emphasis on curriculum integration
  1. Must meet the suitability criteria for employment and/or certification/licensure under the Alabama Child Protection Act of 1999 and Act No.
  1. Valid Alabama driver license reliable transportation and evidence of insurance.
  2. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board my find appropriate and acceptable.

Background Check Required: (HB 402 ACT 99361 Alabama Legislature) Upon offer of employment employees will be required to submit legible fingerprints for a background review by the Alabama Bureau of Investigation and the Federal Bureau Investigation.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendents of Curriculum and Instruction

JOB GOALS:

  1. To provide training and support for administrators classroom teachers as well as school and districtlevel trainers to integrate technology
  2. To provide training and support to administrators in recognizing and assessing appropriate technology integration

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  1. Ability to provide basic technical assistance
  2. Ability to relate well with students teachers and administrators
  3. Demonstrate knowledge of International National State and Local technology standards
  4. Effective oral and written communication skills
  5. Knowledge of adult learning theory
  6. Proficient skills in a variety of software and webbased curriculum technologies
  7. Proven performance with integrating technology in the classroom

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Applicable to All Employees:

  • Attend on a regular and predictable basis.
  • Complete assigned tasks in a safe manner and in a constant state of alertness.
  • Uphold Board policies including the antiharassment program.
  • Work in a cooperative manner with students teachers staff supervisors and the public.
  • Work effectively and efficiently under time and productivity standards.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Work with Lee County classroom teachers to ensure the implementation of the Alabama Course of Study: Technology Education
  2. Work with teachers administrators school and district trainers to train/facilitate the following: integrate technology in the classroom assist with implementing technology professional development and create meaningful classroom web pages
  3. Support technology integration in the following ways: identify and/or create cadres or Professional Learning Groups of technology users with in schools coordinate appropriate training sources act as a liaison to facilitate communication among teachers principals technology and curriculum departments and present various training
  4. Work as an active member of the districts technology team to assist with the creation and implementation of the districts technology plan
  5. Assist schools in the development and implementation of school technology plans
  6. Work as an active member of the districts professional development team to assist with the creation and implementation of the districts professional development plan for technology integration
  7. Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent Superintendent and other appropriate administrators.

The employee is occasionally required to stoop kneel crouch or crawl.

ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

The environmental demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential responsibilities and functions of the job and are not meant to be all inclusive. Exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.

Occasional exposure to a variety of weather conditions. Exposure to heated/air conditioned and ventilated facilities. Exposure to a building in which a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning instruction and/or operation of equipment. Function in a workplace that is usually moderately quiet but that can be noisy at times.

MENTAL FUNCTIONS: While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to compare analyze communicate coordinate instruct compute synthesize evaluate use interpersonal skills and compile. Occasionally required to copy and negotiate.

EMPLOYMENT: This is an twelvemonth 240 days) contract. Salary range is based on the Board approved salary schedule.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Boards policy on evaluation of professional personnel.
