PRIMARY PURPOSE:
The Assistant Principal will be responsible for the overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations and will coordinate assigned student activities and services.
The Assistant Principal must act with integrity support organizational goals demonstrate the ability to inspire grow and motivate others utilize feedback drive for results and commit to championing the needs of the students employees and overall District.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required:
- Masters degree from an accredited College or University
- Valid Texas Assistant Principal or other Administrative certification
- Three years experience as a classroom teacher
Preferred:
- Three years experience as a campus administrator
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
- Thorough understanding of school operations
- Strong organizational communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to coordinate campus support operations
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Instructional Management
- Participate in development and evaluation of educational
- Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programs helping teachers pilot such efforts when appropriate.
- Promote the use of technology in teaching/learning
School/Organizational Climate
- Promote a positive caring climate for
- Communicate effectively with students
Personnel Management
- Observe employee performance record observations and conduct evaluation conferences. Serve as second appraiser for designated teachers appraisal
- Assist principal in interviewing selecting and orienting
Administration and Fiscal/Facilities Management
- Supervise operations in Associate Principal and Principals absence
- Help plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules teacher assignments and extracurricular activity schedules.
- Supervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on followup investigations.
- Requisition supplies textbooks and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materials.
- Assist with safety inspections and safetydrill practice
- Comply with federal and state laws State Board of Education rule and board policy.
Student Management
- Ensure that students are adequately supervised during noninstructional
- Help to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student outcomes
- Ensure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitable.

Professional Growth and Development
- Participate in professional development to improve skills related to job
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school Supervise teachers custodians paraprofessionals clerical personnel and others as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
The usual and customary methods of performing the jobs functions require the following physical demands: physical mobility standing prolonged sitting some lifting carrying pushing and/or pulling. This position will also require both traveling within the district and state wide. Mental demands: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations; ability to interpret a variety of data; ability to interpret TEC and policy; ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory ability to be effective in both oral and written communication; ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
