Turner Industries Group LLC has an opening for a Project Controls / Cost Specialist to join our Project Controls Team in the Lake Charles LA area. This position supports the maintenance capital project and/or the turnaround team with a focus on quantitative analysis of cost and schedule to provide management with the data necessary to make sound business decisions. The Cost Specialist also ensures the projects budget objectives are achieved. The candidate may be asked to work Maintenance Turnarounds Small Capital Projects or a combination of the three.


Essential Qualifications:

  • Two 2 years of cost control and analyst experience in any combination of industrial maintenance capital projects and/or outages and turnarounds
  • Four 4 years of jobsite cost specialist experience or BS degree in one of the following: Business Administration Construction Management Accounting or related curriculum
  • Ability to interpret financial data and identify costrelated issues
  • Experience with cost coding and allocation
  • Familiarity with database management concepts is a plus
  • Understanding of different contract types (e.g. fixed price costplus) and their cost implications
  • Experience in tracking and managing contract costs including change orders
  • Must have a strong background in both cost control and cost analyst
  • Working knowledge of basic to moderately complex cost accounting and cost engineering. Excellent Mathematical skills with attention to accuracy and details are mandatory
  • Creative thinking skills are required for identifying issues before a potential problem is created. Perform analytical tasks related to the workflow process and identify how the process will impact expected results.
  • Mandatory working knowledge of multiple JD Edwards Enterprise1 system modules (i.e. Timekeeping Job Cost Accounts Payable Billing Accounts Receivable)
  • Preferred working knowledge of various Client systems (i.e. SAP EPayables TRACK etc.
  • Mandatory understanding of basic Cost Accounting terminology methodology and forecasting techniques
  • Proficient in Google Workspace
  • Must possess excellent communication interpersonal organizational and problemsolving skills
  • Advanced analytical and problemsolving skills
  • Demonstrate the ability to work efficiently and productively in a team / coworker environment including change management
  • Successfully complete postemploymentoffer drug and alcohol screen and physical evaluation
  • Formally accept Company Drug Alcohol and Contraband Policy
  • Successfully complete Cost Specialist / Engineer Skills Assessment test

Functional Requirements:

Developing and maintaining project budgets from initiation through closeout; forecasting project costs and potential overruns; analyzing and reporting on cost variances (actual vs. budget); earned Value Management (EVM): Understanding and applying EVM principles to track progress and cost performance; effectively manage and control cost general accounting cost accounting conduct audits and create and submit cost reports; work closely with the project management team understand and inform them about the impact and cost diversity or variances of the project; develop Work Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) for each specific scope of work capital project or turnaround; set up budget manhours and track costs by cost code according to the CBS following receipt of the Job Opening Notice; fully understand and facilitate the issuance of contract components / documentation (e.g. Schedule A Labor Rates; Schedule B Equipment Rental Rates; Schedule C & D Small Tools and Consumables NonLabor MarkUps Per diem Travel etc.; setup all Project Tracking Tools (e.g. Project Status Reports Budget Cost Reports Payroll Summaries Field Change Orders and Equipment Rental Logs etc.; review all requisitions (materials subcontracts rentals etc. for proper cost codes and forward to Purchasing; provide actual labor manhour expenditures with planner and scheduler for updating project curves and foremans interface; facilitate / maintain Management of Change (MOC) coding and budgets for the Project; prepare and issue the Project Status Summary report including safety schedule manpower and productivity curves financial status quality controls metrics and field change order logs at the agreed upon interval (i.e. daily weekly monthly etc.; review Vendor invoicing for accuracy and proper cost codes prior to forwarding to Account Payable; prepare and issue the final Project Status Summary report including safety schedule manpower and productivity curves financial status quality controls metrics and field change order logs


Compensation

Final agreed upon compensation is based upon individual qualifications and experience.

Physical Involvement:

May be required to do the following: climbing ladders scaffolds structures etc. above and below ground level; maintaining balance on ladders scaffolds structures etc.; reaching in all directions; handling and manipulating objects and materials; coordinating the movements of eyes hands and fingers to operate tools and equipment; lifting 30 to 50 pounds from ground level waist level and/or overhead; carrying objects tools equipment etc.; standing / sitting; walking; pushing; pulling; bending; kneeling; crouching/squatting; seeing with or without correction; hearing with or without correction; wearing respirator and other PPE; typing / data entry; stepstool use; work in excessive heat; work in excessive cold; work in loud environment
