ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the largest humanitarian organization saving and changing lives worldwide. In 2023 alone WFP supported more than 150 million people by delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Work as hard as we might through drought and floods conflict and peace disasters natural or manmade the needs are immense and growing. To achieve a world with Zero Hunger the Private Partnerships Division (PSP) is investing in fundraising from individuals. WFPs individual fundraising programme is the fastest growing among our peer set (IFL Forum) and with ambitious plans for the next strategy period we aim to reach a cumulative income of USD 1.4 billion from. Unique in the sector WFP fundraises globally from a centralized team that reaches hundreds of millions of people in 180 countries. Our strategy is digitalfirst; we recruit supporters primarily through Meta Google and TikTok and provide a worldclass supporter experience via email SMS Whats App outbound telephone and social media. The programme fundraises in English French Arabic German Korean and Chinese.
PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The core purpose of this role is to acquire new supporters via datadriven digital fundraising campaigns (primarily Facebook/Instagram TikTok and search) in line with agreed targets. This role will focus on maximising performance globally across the Arabicspeaking world and the Germanspeaking world. You will be responsible for growing your allocated markets by working closely with other Campaign Managers to apply existing best practices while also localising and adapting your approach as required for optimal results.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Roles cover a wide range of tasks as required to deliver on the teams evolving needs and ambitious fundraising targets. The list below is not exhaustive but great care will be taken to ensure a balanced workload.
CAMPAIGN PLANNING
Develop a pipeline of Arabic and German fundraising campaigns across search TikTok and Facebook.
Liaise with WFPs Regional Bureau Cairo (RBC) and external agencies to source celebrity fundraising content from household names across the Arabicspeaking world.
Serve as the teams Content Hub focal point regularly briefing reviewing and providing feedback on staff and beneficiary content to ensure a continuous flow of content for all language markets.
CREATIVE PRODUCTION
Draw on previous data and insights to develop highly effective fundraising creative for digital channels i.e. content copywriting factchecking scriptwriting briefing designers/video producers.
Oversee the Campaign Coordinators work in trafficking all ads through internal clearance and in ad platforms.
Translate creative developed in other languages into Arabic and German including proofreading as required.
MEDIA BUYING & ANALYSIS
Build launch and manage campaigns in Facebook and TikTok monitoring and maximising financial performance via ongoing optimisation (audiences creative placements budgets).
Build new audiences and explore new targeting approaches.
Perform thorough data analysis to identify and address sources of underperformance.
Develop and execute AB tests to draw reliable conclusions and reportable insights.
Contribute insightful commentary and analysis to team reports and presentations.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT
A portfolio of highly efficient campaigns that maximise income in line with agreed fundraising targets.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
Education:
University degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. marketing communications business international relations)
Work history:
At least three years of professional experience in relevant areas (digital marketing creative/media agencies social media fundraising) with expertise in developing social media campaigns in Arabic and Germanspeaking markets. Prior experience with WFP or another UN agency is preferred.
