Position Specific Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Through this position RMs will enhance leadership organizational problemsolving and communication skills in a safe educational environment while enhancing their ability to establish and maintain meaningful and professional student relationships. Residential Managers will lead RAs in refining their mentoring skills and developing content for enrichment activities with a social skillbuilding focus. RMs will:
Develop positive and supportive relationships with UB/UBMS RAs including regular checkins with RAs guiding them on mentoring students personal social and academic growth and college/career topics in a professional manner.
Assist in establishing and maintaining a positive and safe environment in the UB/UBMS residence hall for students and staff by enforcing program policies and creating an atmosphere that respects and appreciates the diverse cultures traditions lifestyles and beliefs of allstudents.
Take primary responsibility for supporting RAs including leading training activities and guiding RAs in meeting their residential advising responsibilities. RAs are responsible for monitoring their primary groups personal social and academic progress planning structured activities (including logistics setup and teardown) and collaborating with other staff.
Assist and take leadership on regular program activities such as leadership and teambuilding workshops tutoring and study sessions conducting morning wake up calls and evening lights out rounds in the residence hall checking off meals checking in and checking out students during arrival and departure times and supervising students in the residence hall and on offcampus field trips.
Handle and/or refer student disciplinary issues crises and personal issues to appropriate staff while maintaining student confidentiality.
Lead regular residential staff team meetings and individual meetings along with Associate Director to discuss students academic personal and social wellbeing and ensure their success throughout the summer program.
Perform other tasks as reasonably assigned by Associate Director and/or Director.

Requisite Qualifications
Applicant must either have at least junior standing while currently enrolled in college or must be a recent college graduate in good academic standing and must have completed at least three years by the start of the summer program. They must also possess strong leadership qualities and have the ability to function as a team player. Alsoimportant:
Must have prior residential advising experience.
Must be able to communicate constructively and effectively.
Must be sensitive respectful and understanding of the needs of economically and academically disadvantaged ethnically diverse high school students.
Must be able to establish and maintain a trusting and productive working relationship with program students and staff.
Must possess the commitment and stamina to participate constructively in potentially stressful personal interactions and situations.
Experience working with lowincome students in a residential setting is highly desirable.
Valid California Drivers License is preferred.
