Job Description

Texas A&M University Texarkana has launched the Better East Texas initiative an educational campaign to address the needs of this historically underserved region. To support this initiative we are inviting applications for a Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Social Work. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing academic program intended to provide a positive impact on East Texas. With funding from the 86th Texas Legislature Texas A&M UniversityTexarkana is hoping to attract excellent faculty who will contribute to the best possible future for our service region.

Multiple positions may be filled from this announcement.

Salary information: The expected salary range for this position is $55000.00 $68000.00 annually.

Location: Texarkana TX. This will be a fulltime facetoface/hybrid position and the selected candidate will be required to be on the Texas A&M UniversityTexarkana campus.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Teaching in the BSW and MSW social work programs. Teach in generalist and clinical social work classes as needed; assist with curriculum design in alignment with Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) Educational Policy and Accreditation Standards EPAS 2022; and employ a studentcentered pedagogy.
  • Advise social work majors and contribute in other ways to the social work program.
  • Work collaboratively with faculty across disciplines.
  • Serve on division college and university committees.
  • Conduct and publish field specific research to enhance the general body of knowledge in social work. Collaborative research with undergraduate and graduate students is encouraged (Assistant Professor rank only).
  • Present research findings and other academic papers at national or professional conferences.
  • Support and participate in social work community activities and professional organizations to develop professional partnerships and meet the institutions strategic goals.
  • Cultivate and develop working relationships with students faculty staff and community members.
  • Lecturer of Social Work (nontenure track) teaching assignment: 15 SCH undergraduate and/or graduate courses each semester in the classroom and/or online
  • Assistant Professor of Social Work (tenure track) teaching assignment: 12 SCH undergraduate and graduate courses each semester in the classroom and/or online

KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Minimum Qualifications Lecturer (nontenure track) and Assistant Professor Rank (tenure track)

  • Earned MSW from a CSWEaccredited institution
  • At least two years of postmasters social work practice experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Knowledge of computer applications including word processing spreadsheet and database capabilities
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with all segments of the student population

Minimum Qualifications Assistant Professor (tenuretrack) Rank Only

  • Earned DSW or Ph.D. in social work social welfare or closely related field
  • Evidence of scholarship and research agenda

Preferred Qualifications

  • Candidates that are licensed or licenseeligible as a social worker in Texas and/or Arkansas
  • Record of teaching excellence in social work or related field
  • Demonstrated experience in program and curricular development
  • Clinical experience working with children trauma or addictions
  • Proficiency in online and hybrid teaching methods

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel and work beyond normal office hours
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
