Job Description

SUPERVISOR CAREER TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) PROGRAMS

PC# 48

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Valid Alabama teachers certificate with a Masters Degree or above.

  1. Certification in school administration preferred.
  2. Minimum of five years successful experience as a CTE educator.
  3. Work experience in business industry preferred.
  4. Such alternatives as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent of Instruction

JOB GOAL: Provide leadership and assistance in executing all CTE programs in the Shelby County School System.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Supervise all career tech programs.

  1. Assist in assessment and evaluation of teachers and programsBusiness Industry Certification requirements.

  1. Plan and manage Perkins Fund and other related budgets.

  1. Serve as consultant to the professional staff on matters pertaining to CTE information and on the interpretation of laws affecting vocational personnel.

  1. Assist in the recruitment and screening of CTE personnel.

  1. Assist in preparing the CTE budget and all required reports.

7. Conduct observations of all firstyear and nontenured CTE teachers.

  1. Coordinate through the appropriate personnel all CTE work experience programs in the school system.

9. Serve as liaison between the CTE program and the business community.

  1. Stay informed and current and assist teachers to stay informed and current in CTE education.

  1. Serve as leader for the county CTE advisory committee.

  1. Assist in the purchasing process and installation and maintenance procedures for all CTE equipment.

  1. Provide professional development and updated training opportunities for CTE personnel.

  1. Serve as a resource to CTE teachers for locating and securing appropriate materials.

  1. Assist in the textbook selection process.

  1. Be regular and punctual in attendance and maintain confidentiality of all Board of Education related business.

  1. Perform other duties as might be reasonably assigned by the Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent of Instruction.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Twelvemonth contract. Salary according to appropriate current schedule. Exempt employee.

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board of Education Policy.
