GENERAL DESCRIPTION:


The Wyoming Department of Corrections (WDOC) contributes to public safety by exercising reasonable safe secure and humane management while actively providing offenders opportunities to become lawabiding citizens.

The Wyoming Honor Conservation Camp (WHCC) is a prison containing three dorms housing minimumsecurity inmates as well as both male and female ITU inmates. The WHCC provides programming vocational recreational and educational space to allow the WDOC to meet the goal of reducing recidivism through cognitive and behavioral intervention.

This position assists the Food Services Supervisor with supervision direction and training of inmate food service workers to prepare serve and store food according to institutional and USDA Food Standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:The listed functions are illustrative only and are not intended to describe every function that may be performed in the job level.

  • With the assistance of the Food Services Assistant directs coordinates prepares and supervises the preparation of food for meals within the guidelines of the menu dietary requirements and the standards of appearance taste temperature and sanitation.
  • Trains workers in safety and sanitation.
  • Prepares all religious and medically necessary diets and substitutions as needed.
  • Directs the portioning and serving of all meals.
  • Oversees the distribution of bulk food and preplated meals.
  • Ensures that health guidelines are met in the daily preparation of food.
  • Manages inventory and reviews on a daily basis of all items.
  • Completes daily inventories of knives controlled food items and tools.
  • Observes and records food refrigerator and freezer temperatures.

Qualifications


PREFERENCES:


Preference may be given to those applicants with three 3 or more years of experience in the food service industry.


KNOWLEDGE:



Education:
Associates Degree (typically in Culinary Arts)
Experience:
01 year of progressive work experience (typically in Food Services) with acquired knowledge at the level of a Food Services Assistant

Necessary Special Requirements

PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:



  • Applicants must have the physical ability to regularly lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Applicants must have the ability to remain on their feet for long periods.
  • Applicants must have the ability to sit stand bend stoop squat reach and hold items regularly.
  • Applicants must have the ability to supervise multiple food service inmate workers daily
  • Applicants must be able to see hear listen and converse with inmate workers frequently
  • Applicants must be able to sit for long periods and have the visual and manual capacity to use a computer keyboard and screen for extended periods.
