The Arizona Department of Corrections Rehabilitation & Reentry (ADCRR) is looking for an experienced Accountant. This position is responsible for reviewing and analyzing transactions for accuracy timeliness and proper preparation in AZ360 Financial (AZ360FIN). Compiling data for analysis and preparation for standardized reports. Reviewing complex bank reconciliations to ensure items are communicated and resolved. Processing employee reimbursement claims. Process name Tax Identification Number (TIN) and data verifications with Internal Revenue Service (IRS) related databases and reporting.

Routinely processes name and TIN verifications with the IRS database for all workers on inmate work assignments and employees to resolve any discrepancies
Assists with data verification related to 1099 reporting
Processes agency employee reimbursement claims (travel tuition etc. for the agency
Uses various accounting systems to retrieve review and identify inconsistencies
Researches and identifies potential problem areas and resolutions
Effectively communicates with other departments and management to obtain information and/or correct transactions
Reviews and requests corrections or substantiation of information presented
Analyzes processes or approves fiscal transactions
Reconciles processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
Analyzes financial information completes reconciliations and prepares various financial reports
Resolves accountingrelated issues with internal and external stakeholders
Maintains documentation accuracy in accordance with policies and procedures
Supports internal and external audit requirements
Processes requests for user access to AZ360 Financial (AZ360FIN) and the Arizona Procurement Portal (APP)
Verifies completion of required training and creates a User Maintenance Document (UDOC) for user access for all employees needing access
Drives on State business
Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Knowledge of:
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
The principles concepts practices methods and techniques of governmental accounting
Internal control structures and fiscal management
The methods and techniques of automated financial systems
Reference materials such as federal regulations Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) applicable agency manuals and policies and procedures
Financial research methodologies
Writing reports
Fiscal transactions such as billing and invoices payments or other financial documents
1099 Taxpayer Information Number ITIN and IRS regulations

Skill in:
Work organization and accomplishment
Analysis and interpretation of financial data
Working techniques required to maintain accounting records through automated accounting systems including computers and mainframes
Training and reviewing the work of others
Verbal and written communication
Establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships

Learn the State of Arizona Accounting Manual State Procurement AZ360 Financial (AZ360FIN) and the Arizona Procurement Portal (APP)
Follow written and verbal instructions
Interpret and understand IRS Internal Revenue Codes and regulations
Develop and draft procedures for changes in processes and requirements which may include maintaining a chart of accounts for the agency
Review monitor and control amounts expending from budget(s) to assure that expenditures do not exceed funds available
Gather and compile complex data and write reports summarizing financial transactions and the status of accounts for a given period
Utilize automated accounting systems and applications to retrieve and review data files analyze information and analyze contract status

Employment is contingent on the selected applicant passing a background investigation.

If this position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job then the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid classappropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C. R210207.11.

In an effort to maintain a safe environment all employees are required to take a Tuberculosis (TB) test during their New Employee Orientation and every year thereafter.

All newly hired State employees are subject to and must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (EVerify).
