THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection is looking for a dedicated individual to join our team in promoting the health of Pennsylvanias communities and natural surroundings. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Sewage Planning Specialist Trainee you will engage in a comprehensive oneyear training program designed to equip you with the skills necessary to apply to the duties of a Sewage Planning Specialist 1. These taskswill involve reviewing sewage planning documents permit applications and official plans to ensure they align with the requirements of the Sewage Facilities Act. Additionally you will conduct surveys and assessments of onlot sewage systems and identified problem areas to pinpoint any potential environmental or public health hazards. You will also engage in the evaluation and oversight of local agencies and sewage enforcement officers which includes conducting performance reviews and making enforcement recommendations.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Fulltime employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
  • This position may require travel.
  • Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 3 days a week. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Altoona.
  • Salary:In some cases the starting salary may be nonnegotiable.
