Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Pediatric Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine Levine Childrens Hospital

Position will be at our Concord NC location

The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine at Levine Childrens Hospitalis actively seeking an Advanced Practice Practitioner to join their team of providers.The Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine Division is a thriving group of seven physicians and six APPs that serve two childrens hospitals and four outpatient locations. Levine Childrens is home to Charlottes only accredited Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center and provides multidisciplinary care in the areas of Aerodigestive Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia MDA Severe Asthma Sickle Cell Pulmonary Hypertension and Technology Dependence.

Levine Childrens Hospital is a 253bed pediatric hospital located on the campus ofAtrium Health inCharlotte North Carolina. Jeff Gordons Hospital is a 28bed pediatric floor on the campus of Atrium Health Cabarrus in Concord NC. Although we are primarily located at two locations we are one team that works cohesively and supports each other.

Job Summary

The position will be for our outpatient services located in Concord NC. Schedule will be determined based on needs of division but will not include weekends nights or call. Patients may be medically complex requiring home ventilation and advanced airway management such as a tracheostomy in the outpatient setting.

The APP functions independently in an outpatient clinic setting with their own template. The position will work collaboratively with the inpatient team at LCH Main or Jeff Gordons to ensure hospital followup needs from our should be interested in caring for complex multidisciplinary patients with pulmonary conditions and demonstrate a commitment to medical education.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements
Work requires walking standing sitting lifting reaching bending stooping pushing and pulling. Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients medical equipment and supplies. Must speak English fluently and in understandable terms. Must possess intact sense of sight hearing smell touch and finger dexterity. Must be able to react and perform in stressful situations.


Education Experience and Certifications.
Must have or be eligible for a DEA license. Approved to practice as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant in the state one works. Eligible for prescriptive authority application through the Board of Nursing or Medical Board in NC required. BLS for Healthcare Provider and PALS required with expiration date greater than 90 days from date of beginning practice. Demonstrates appropriate critical thinking interpersonal skills and the ability to prioritize and concentrate.


Nurse Practitioner
Masters Degree or Doctor of Nursing Practice required. Family nurse practitioner or pediatric nurse practitioner required. Acute care board certification not required. License to practice as a Registered Nurse required. Certification in practice from a nationally recognized certifying body required.


Physician Assistant
Graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program required; Masters Degree preferred. Certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants preferred. Experience in pediatric critical care preferred.
