With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp nextgeneration devices to volume production quickly and costeffectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design KLAs Global Products Group (GPG) which is responsible for creating all of KLAs metrology and inspection products is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist software engineers application development engineers and senior product technology process engineers. The Broadband Plasma Division (BBP) provides marketleading patterned wafer optical inspection systems for leadingedge IC manufacturing. Logic foundry and memory customers depend on BBP products to detect yieldcritical defects for process debug and excursion monitoring at advanced process nodes. BBP flagship products include the 29xx and 39xx series which leverage Broadband Plasma technology to capture a wide range of defects with ultimate sensitivity at the optical inspection speeds needed for inline defect monitoring.Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
The strategic development group in the wafer inspection division at KLA is looking for a senior manager to lead the wafer surface modification team. The surface modification team had developed and validated an innovative scheme to enable defect signal enhancement for wafer inspection through surface modification and the group now needs an experienced leader to transform early R&D process to production worthy solution. The successful candidate needs to leverage deep technical expertise in surface chemistry thorough engineering practices and strong leadership skills to drive key decisions for the transition. The manager will also work with experts in different fields so effective communication to relay findings clearly to key stakeholders is critical for this role.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide technical direction to convert R&D surface modification procedure to production worthy solution and maintain defect signal enhancement benefit
Drive the team through engineering rigor and well controlled processes to develop robust surface modification procedures to ensure predictable inspection results
Provide technical direction on the development of various types of fluorophores
Lead the team on the engineering design implementation and process optimization of selective surface marking
Oversee characterization analysis using techniques such as XPS SEM AFM ToFSIMS XRR NMR FTIR TEM fluorimetry and ellipsometry
Drive the team to develop production worthy surface modification and synthesis procedures
Forster a culture of continuous improvement with emphasis on scientific excellence
Establish relationship with chemical company(ies) to plan for scaleup production
Collaborate crossfunctionally with product development team and participate in customer meetings
Prepare technical reports and conduct peerreview meetings as needed.
Track industry trends and innovations related to atomic layer deposition etch chemistries and ultrathin film coatings.
Qualifications:
PhD in Chemistry Materials Science Chemical Engineering Physical Chemistry Physics or related field with a focus on surface science surface modification and/or fluorescence emission
Minimum of 810 years of experience in surface chemistry/polymer synthesis/organic synthesis with at least 35 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Proven expertise in surface modification techniques and analytical characterization.
Experience in fluorescent dye synthesis fabrication and characterization
Strong track record of leading a team to innovate execute and collaborate cross functionally.
Excellent communication leadership and problemsolving skills
Proven experience with IC device fabrication for logic foundry and/or DRAM/NAND devices
Demonstrated experience working directly with advanced semiconductor fabs and foundries
Plus:
Handson expertise with fluorescence dye usage in semiconductor applications
Strong understanding of material interactions at nanoscale dimensions and their impact on semiconductor device performance
Minimum Qualifications
