About the Team
Amazon Tax Platform Services is responsible for the endtoend infrastructure that computes and manages tax obligations across Amazons global marketplace. Our systems calculate sales tax VAT and other tax types for all physical and digital sales worldwide generate taxcompliant invoices and maintain auditready records in accordance with global regulations. We operate missioncritical highly available services that must deliver correct results in real time millions of times per second.
Key job responsibilities
About the Role
We are looking for Software Development Engineers who are passionate about building largescale distributed systems and delivering reliable scalable and highperformance services. As part of this team you will work across the entire software development lifecyclefrom system design and architecture to implementation testing deployment and operations.
In this role you will:
Design develop and maintain highperformance distributed services that perform complex tax computations and generate regulatorycompliant documents.
Build resilient systems capable of handling thousands of transactions per second with low latency and high accuracy.
Apply software engineering best practices including code reviews automated testing CI/CD pipelines and robust monitoring.
Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including product tax and operations to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Continuously improve system reliability performance and operational efficiency through innovation and automation.
Contribute to architectural decisions and longterm technical strategy in a fastpaced agile development environment.
5 years of noninternship professional software development experience
5 years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
5 years of leading design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
Experience as a mentor tech lead or leading an engineering team
5 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
