Job Description
Peterson Cat has the immediate need for an experienced Shop Welder at our San Leandro CA location.
SUMMARY
The Shop Welder performs welding and lineboring processes for repair and custom fabrication projects in the weld shop.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
The following reflects managements definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. - Maintain a safe working environment and observe all safety procedures laws policies and rules.
- Communicate with internal and external customers in a manner that promotes a positive relationship.
- Perform the following welding and fabrication operations in the weld shop and on customer sites as needed with occasional supervision:
- Operate welding and cutting equipment.
- Fabricate custom components.
- Perform repair welds on components.
- Modify new and used equipment as directed.
- Write service reports that accurately document activities.
- Prepare required documentation including work orders parts lists and timecards in an accurate and timely manner to enable other employees to do their job in a timely manner.
- Perform assigned tasks in a timely accurate and efficient manner.
- Follow manufacturer and company installation and service guidelines and procedures to ensure quality work.
- Work overtime as needed within labor law guidelines.
- Maintain punctual regular and predictable attendance.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily safely and in alignment with Petersons core values. - Must maintain a tool inventory sufficient to perform assigned tasks.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); and a minimum of five 5 years of directly related experience in welding/fitting preferably in a heavy industrial environment; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
CERTIFICATES LICENSES REGISTRATIONS
- Lift truck operator certificate.
- Certified Welder certificate is preferred
