Job Summary:
The HR Adviser provides specialist professional human resources advice and support across all Council directorates ensuring highquality service delivery aligned with organisational objectives.
The role requires expert knowledge of employment legislation HR policy and best practice and plays a pivotal part in enhancing people management capability employee relations and organisational development initiatives.
This post works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver consistent customerfocused HR solutions in a complex unionised environment.
Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample):
Provide expert HR advice and guidance to managers on complex people management issues including employee relations organisational change TUPE job evaluation and restructuring.
Act as a key adviser on employment legislation Council HR policies and best practice.
Lead and manage a diverse caseload ensuring timely and effective resolution of cases.
Maintain effective relationships with trade union and staff representatives participating in consultations and negotiations.
Contribute to HR policy development and provide feedback to inform improvements.
Deliver training on people management practice and support employee engagement induction and diversity and inclusion initiatives.
Analyse and report on HR data and casework trends to inform strategic decisions.
Prepare documentation for employment tribunals and liaise with legal services as required.
Contribute to the continuous development of the Council s People Management Strategy.
Skills/Experience:
Proven experience as an HR practitioner in a complex politically sensitive and unionised environment.
Strong working knowledge of employment law employee engagement employee relations and HR best practice.
Demonstrated ability to develop and implement effective people management solutions aligned to organisational goals.
Experience of leading HR initiatives across performance management resourcing and talent development.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence coach and support managers at all levels.
Effective stakeholder management and the ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Competence in the use of IT systems including MS Office and HR information systems.
CIPD Chartered membership (or equivalent experience) essential.

Hybrid role 2 days/week from the office.
