Job Description

The Land Development Engineer will lead the technical design for an interdisciplinary team of civil engineers project planners and CAD designers. Reporting directly to the Director of the Land Development Department the position requires candidates to possess high technical competency and experience in land development projects sustainable design utility design and stormwater management design. The ideal candidate will have experience with the unique requirements of design and permitting for development projects including schools and other institutional projects as well as commercial and retail projects.

Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering (Required)
  • Minimum 5 years of civil engineering experience (Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience on land development projects
  • K12 site design experience (a plus but not required)
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and Office 360 products (Excel Word etc.
  • Strong communication skills in English (Required)

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in preparing project drawings calculations and specifications
  • Prepare engineering analysis design calculations and reports
  • Evaluate land use and zoning requirements; understand zoning ordinances and site plan approval processes
  • Prepare permit applications and manage agency review processes for approvals
  • Conduct site visits during the construction phase to assess progress and quality
  • Collaborate with design teams including owners architects and contractors
  • Provide mentorship and training for junior staff

  • 5 years of civil engineering experience (Required)
  • Minimum 3 years of design experience on land development projects
  • Proficiency with Civil 3D and Office 360 products (Excel Word etc.
  • Ability to work in an office environment and travel as needed for client meetings and site visits
