Job Title: Missing and Exploited Youth Human Trafficking Screening Specialist (SHPC2
Location: Statewide WA FullTime/Permanent/Remote/Hybrid. The office locations are Regions 4 and 6 (King County & Lewis County).

Salary:$5117 $6876 Monthly

The Opportunity:
The Missing and Exploited Youth Human Trafficking Screening Specialist (SHPC2 is a member of the Missing & Exploited Youth (MEY) team. In this role youll be responsible for following statewide policy and procedures related to screening and assessment of Human Trafficking which includes Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC) and Labor Trafficking. This position will be implementing the legislative requirement to screen youth for human trafficking utilizing a validated screening tool as well as serving as a subject matter specialist regarding all forms of human trafficking. This position will assist assigned social service specialist staff in best practices and understanding the complexities of exploitation cases as well as provide guidance regarding community based services and supports for youth.

Some of what you will get to do:
  • Coordinate and consult with child welfare staff on cases referred for screening for CSE and Labor Trafficking.
  • Review existing case records to inform results of the screening tool.
  • Ensure that the screening process is initiated within recommended timeframes.
  • Collaborate with unit members and leadership to provide quality screenings within guidelines and compile results.
  • Conduct interviews with youth as part of the screening process with referred youth as indicated through information gathering.
  • Administer and interpret the validated screening tool maintaining fidelity to the model.
  • Assist with reporting to Law Enforcement as required by law and policy on cases of high risk or confirmed exploitation for labor or sex.
  • Support assigned social workers after the screening is completed with guidance for ongoing prevention and service referrals that meet the complex trauma needs of exploited youth.
  • Participate in child welfare led staffing meetings regarding youth who have been identified as being high risk or confirmed as exploited.
  • Communicate screening results with assigned staff and make recommendations to assist with improved outcomes.
  • Inform Supervisor and Program Manager of identifiable trends and any areas of concern.
  • Input accurate screening information into the designated data management system following policy and procedures.
  • Maintain organized documentation and records and report outcome to the supervisor on a timely and routine basis.

Required Qualifications:
  • One 1 year of experience as a Social and Health Program Consultant 1.
OR

  • Equivalent education and experience totaling seven 7 years of professional experience in planning administering developing or delivering social financial health or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
OR
  • A Bachelors degree in social work a health or social science public administration or related field; and three 3 years of professional experience in planning administering developing or delivering social financial health or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
OR

  • A Masters degree or higher in social work a health or social science public administration or a related field and two 2 years of professional experience in planning administering developing or delivering social financial health or chemical dependency treatment services programs.
In addition to those required qualifications our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:
  • Ability to accurately administer and score standardized screening tools to measure developmental and social/emotional functioning.
  • Ability and advance knowledge regarding child development and skills to present screening results in an effective professional and culturally competent manner.
  • Ability to maintain current knowledge of applicable laws rules and policies on delivery of child protective and child welfare services within Washington State and deliver services accordingly.
  • Ability to maintain good working relationships with caregivers (foster parents relatives fictive kin or facility staff).
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to use a range of software applications and computer programs.
  • Ability to demonstrate advanced writing skills reports and documentation including organization of written work substantiation of assertions with observable information and adherence to standard writing conventions.
