Primary Responsibilities:
The Principal Structural Analyst will use analytical methods finite element models/simulations and other analysis tools to produce models perform analysis calculations data reduction and correlate test results for structures and/or structural dynamics. The candidate will be responsible for closely collaborating with the design and manufacturing teams to produce designs that meet stringent performance manufacturability and schedule requirements. The candidate would be expected to perform these roles in the capacity of a lead structural analyst on a major program.
Basic Qualifications:
- Candidate must possess a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABETaccredited university
- Candidate must have at least a BS degree and 1215 years experience (or an MS degree and 1013 years) performing aerospace structural analysis in industry.
- Candidate must have demonstrated experience with any of the commercial finite element analysis tools (e.g. FEMAP/NX NASTRAN PATRAN/MSC NASTRAN ANSYS).
- Candidate must be able to write technical reports and present data to a multidisciplined team.
- The position requires candidates to be capable of performing in a collaborative engineering environment working closely with multidisciplinary teams.
- Advanced static structural stress analysis using classic methods
- Familiarity with typical NASA structural standards including but not limited to NASASTD5001 NASASTD5019 and NASASTD5020
- Candidate must possess experience as a lead structural analyst on an aerospace program
- Candidate must be capable of working as part of a larger analysis team or working as the sole analyst on a project.
- Candidate must be a resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville AL area.
Preferred Qualifications:
Preference shown to candidates who have experience and/or working knowledge with:
- Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering Aerospace Engineering or equivalent degree from an ABETaccredited university
- Advanced structural analysis techniques (Linear contact FEA Nonlinear FEA Application of nonlinear material properties to hand analysis Integrated multiphysics analysis).
- Fracture Fatigue and Durability analysis using standard tools (NASGRO NASFLA etc.
- Dynamics analysis (modal response spectrum shock vibration)
- Structural testing experience both static and dynamic
- Composite materials
- Thermal analysis

Pay Range:
Pay Range $126100.00 $227950.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline onlyand not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job education experience knowledge skills and abilities as well as internal equity alignment with market data applicable bargaining agreement (if any) or other law.
