Linux System Administrator (Top Tier Investment Bank)
Overview
We are looking for a highly skilled Linux System Administrator to join one of our Investment Banking clients. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing and maintaining our Linuxbased infrastructure ensuring optimal performance security and reliability in a fastpaced financial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- System Administration: Install configure and maintain Linux servers ensuring high availability and performance for trading and banking applications.
- Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Proactively monitor system performance and health; troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Security Management: Implement robust security measures including access controls encryption and regular security audits to protect sensitive financial data.
- Backup and Disaster Recovery: Develop implement and test backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard critical systems and data.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation for system configurations operational procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Automation and Scripting: Utilize scripting languages (e.g. Bash Python) to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
- Collaboration: Work closely with application developers network engineers and security teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality of banking systems.
- Compliance: Ensure all systems comply with industry regulations and internal policies related to data security and financial transactions.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or a related field.
- Experience: 5 years of experience in Linux system administration preferably in a financial services or investment banking environment.
- Expertise in Linux distributions (e.g. Red Hat CentOS Ubuntu).
- Strong understanding of networking protocols and services (TCP/IP DNS DHCP).
- Familiarity with cloud services (AWS Azure) and virtualization technologies (VMware KVM).
- Experience with automation and configuration management tools (Ansible Puppet Chef).
- Relevant certifications (e.g. RHCE LPIC CompTIA Linux).
- Knowledge of database management systems (e.g. Oracle MySQL).
- Experience with highfrequency trading systems or financial applications.
