Job Duties
VDOT is looking for a Part Time Laborer/Flagger at the Buckingham Area Headquarters to keep Virginia moving! This position will flag traffic assist in setting up work zones perform manual labor on roadway maintenance work crews and drive pickups and oneton trucks. Job safety and the use of personal protective equipment are of the utmost importance. Positions may perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles and equipment.
This is a wage position and is limited to 1500 hours of work in the twelve month period beginning May 1 through April 30. No state benefits are provided.
Minimum Qualifications
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Skill in the operation maintenance of light and medium equipment used for highway maintenance and repair.
Valid drivers license.
Knowledge of highway maintenance equipment materials methods and procedures.
Skill in the operation maintenance of handheld and power tools.
Ability to read follow oral and written instructions.
Additional Considerations
Experience in equipment operation and performing preventive maintenance.
A combination of training experience or education in Maintenance Construction or related field.
Experience with emergency operations to include snow removal storms and accident cleanup.
Experience performing roadway maintenance or construction activities.

This position is designated as essential and as such all duties associated with the job are required during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather disaster response and emergency operations.
