Job Summary:The Communications Specialist I writes and edits communications for a department college and/or division under general supervision. Develops and implements plans activities and tactics to support the goals of assigned areas. Coordinates the production of materials and resources through a variety of platforms including digital and physical mediums.
Additional Department Summary:Develops implements and produces communication plans and activities that support the goals of the Division and/or The University.
Required Minimum Qualifications:Bachelors degree and some journalism public relations marketing or communications experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree or higher in Communications Journalism Public Relations English Marketing or Advertising and one 1 year of journalism public relations marketing or communications experience.
Skills and Knowledge:Professional writer with multiple forms of journalism skills. Strong interviewing skills for print video and online. Thorough reporting skills to include background research and longform writing. Superior writing skills in terms of written narrative technique organization handling quotes and knowledge of AP style.
Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree or higher in Communications Journalism Public Relations English Marketing Advertising or related field. Experience writing and editing for academic journals and other publications.
