The Rotating RN/LPN provides nursing assessments andtriage to appropriate level of care to meet medical needs including health andmedication education to adolescent residents. Assists Medical Director in ensuring agencywide program compliance withrequirements and government reporting regulations affecting overall facilityfunction (e.g. CARF JCAHO WAC IHS WA State Dept. of Health). This position maintains medical records andother mandated documentation in accordance with state regulations for a residentialtreatment facility.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1.Performs nursing intake assessmenton residents within 24 hours of admission.
2.Performs daily assessments ofmedical complaints including making appropriate referrals.
3.Assists with scheduling appointmentscommunicating with Medical Director and Behavioral Health Director andinforming treatment team of resident status.
4.Perform delegated independentnursing functions using established policies procedures guidelines andstandards as observed by medical director.
5.Provides nursing recommendationsfor resident discharge planning.
6.Educates residents and staffregarding medications treatment plan and diagnostic tests.
7.Performs first aid proceduresincluding dressings medications and suture removal.
8.Receives and transcribes neworders and updates medication administration records daily.
9.Obtains medications from pharmacyas necessary.
10.Routinely checks for expiredmedications and reorders if necessary.
11.Maintains medical records forreview by Medical Director and State inspectors.
12.Collects and prepares laboratoryspecimens for courier pick up arranges for onsite lab draws and performs inhouse diagnostic tests (i.e. pregnancy test drug screen glucose monitoring).
13.Reviews lab reports and discussesresults with Medical Director (if appropriate) and will advise the treatmentteam of health issues impacting residents participation.
14.Routinely conducts inventory auditsof medical supplies and medical instruments and equipment and reorder orreplace as needed.
15.Routinely check refrigerator logand calibration.
16.Dispose of biohazard wasteaccording to OSHA/WISHA standards and HL7N policy.
17.Provide group education with residents on topics such as sexeducation CPR hygiene and health related matters.
18.Assist in ensuringmedical department meets all licensing contractual and quality assurancestandards/requirements.
19.Participates in overallfacility and program quality improvement process.
20.Standing doctors orders: Maintains current all records ofactive/inactive Standing Doctors Orders.

Education and/orExperience:
Current State of Washington Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) withthree years of experience
Ability to function within the framework of amultidisciplinary team approach to treatment
Ability to handle stressful situations
Experience working with Native American adolescentspreferred
Training and work experience in an adolescent residentialtreatment environment preferred
Certificates Licenses orRegistrations:
Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Washington State Drivers License
AHA BLS/CPR

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully an individual must havebasic knowledge in MS Office Suite including Outlook WordExcel & PowerPoint.
