Job Summary

The University College/Visor Center Summer Student Worker in Academic Support Communities will support and execute the programs and services of University College and the Julia N. Visor Academic Center. During the summer the Julia N. Visor Academic Center consists of 7 professional staff and 1 student worker. While each staff member has specific programming responsibilities the center operates as a team and therefore student workers assist with a diverse mix of programmatic responsibilities. This position involves direct student contact in a oneonone environment. In executing the duties of this position the student worker supports the goals and objectives of University College.

In collaboration with senior fulltime staff the Academic Support Communities Student Worker will provide academic support for the SOAR Scholars program through the following:
1. Develop Fall and Spring orientation sessions
2. Complete prework for SOARspecific content workshops (i.e. research on topics themes learning outcomes)
3. Online communication schedule for SOAR Scholars program
4. Assist in strengthening SOARs programmatic framework and engagement opportunities/requirements
5. Develop a digital SOAR resource manual
6. Create modules and other materials for the SOAR Canvas site
7. Outline the SOAR faculty/staff and mentorship programs
8. Review and synthesize SOARspecific data (retention program engagement etc.
9. Support the curriculum development for the SOAR IDS 128 section
Preview conference sessions and virtual workshop sessions for SOAR students
11. Participate in the SOAR Scholar interviews

In addition to the above duties Student Workers will have specific programmatic responsibilities in one of the the following areas:
1. Assist in the coordination and programming of the academic services programs of University College
2. Utilize best practices in teaching and learning to assist students in their academic journey
3. Assist in building SOAR Scholar outreach and support model
4. Research and design strategies for First Year Student success
5. Review/update programmatic documentation
6. Other duties as assigned or discussed with supervisor

Pay Rate

$19.00/hour

Work Hours

Summer 2025: May 20 2025June 30 2025; 27 hours per week; MondayFriday with some evening and weekend hours required
