PartTime Skills Instructor (HKIN 207: Advanced Emergency Care in Sports Setting)
The Department of Human Kinetics invites applications for a parttime Skills Instructor to teach:
HKIN 207: Advanced Emergency Care in Sports Setting 2.25 credits during the Winter term of theacademic year). This position is subject to final budgetary approval.
Students will learn theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary to respond to emergency situations that may arise during physical activity related to sports and sports training. This skill course is designed to introduce students to common urgentcare scenarios as well as how to administer the appropriate emergency care techniques. The course will have both a theoretical component and a practical component in which students will be able to practice learned emergency care techniques.
The ideal candidate should possess at a minimum an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology or related field and be a Certified Athletic Therapist CAT(C).
About the Department
Human Kinetics students pursue a fouryear integrated program that focuses on human body movementfrom a variety of perspectives (athletic therapy biomechanics disability exercise physiology gender growth health history motor control philosophy physical education sociology psychology). Students are wellpreparedafter graduation to enter the workforce apply to professional programs (e.g. physiotherapy or occupational therapy) or medical school or pursue graduate studies.
