Position Overview
We are seeking a detailoriented and proactive Accountant with over 5 years of experience in accounting and finance to join our team. In this role you will be responsible for daytoday accounting operations ensuring the integrity and accuracy of financial statements managing Sales and Use Tax and supporting various financial reporting activities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in general ledger management monthend and yearend close processes and financial analysis with a keen ability to improve efficiency in accounting operations.
This is a fulltime hybrid position working from our Austin Texas office.
Duties and Responsibilities
Manage and maintain the general ledger ensuring the accurate recording of financial transactions and account reconciliations.
Manage state and county sales tax requirements and liaise with our thirdparty tax vendor Avalara.
Actively participate in the monthend quarterend and yearend closing process sales commission calculation and deferred revenue calculation ensuring that all journal entries accruals and financial transactions are processed timely and accurately.
Analyze financial data and provide insights into budget vs. actual performance identifying variances and recommending corrective actions.
Assist in the preparation of detailed financial reports including balance sheets profit and loss statements and cash flow statements.
Support the preparation and filing of tax returns ensuring compliance with all relevant tax regulations. Reconcile and commit US Sales Tax transactions monthly.
Suggest enhancements to internal controls streamlining accounting procedures and improving operational efficiency.
Assist with internal and external audits by preparing supporting documentation and schedules.
Ensure timely and accurate reporting of financial information to management and other stakeholders.
Reconciliation of accounts ensuring discrepancies are identified and resolved promptly.
Ad hoc reporting tasks and other projects as needed.
Knowledge & Educational Requirements:
Bachelors degree in accounting required (CPA is preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of handson experience in accounting with a solid understanding of financial reporting general ledger operations and monthend closing processes. Ideal experience includes 12 years working with U.S. sales taxes.
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and MS Excel. Experience using Avalara software a plus.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze and interpret financial data.
Proven ability to work independently and efficiently managing multiple tasks and deadlines in a fastpaced environment.
Experience in the Manufacturing and/or Technology industry desirable.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
