Job Summary/Basic Function

POSITION SUMMARY:


The Graduate Assistant for the Center for Student Engagement and Belonging (CSEB) at Maryville University plays an essential role in ensuring all students have the opportunity to engage in meaningful and vibrant campus experiences. This position involves collaborating with various campus departments to provide students from various identities and backgrounds with access to leadership learning and personal growth opportunities through programming support for student organizations and handson involvement in creating an environment of belonging.
Reporting to the CSEB Program Coordinator the Graduate Assistant is a critical member of the CSEB team. Responsibilities include promoting leadership development organizing intentional experiential learning opportunities and providing training and support for student organizations ensuring access and opportunity towards engagement. The role also includes coordinating student activities and events advising cultural student organizations and assisting in managing communications and social media efforts to enhance participation across the student body.

QUALIFICATIONS:


Bachelors degree required.
Deep commitment to fostering access and opportunity for Maryville students staff and faculty.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational abilities.
Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite social media platforms and Salesforce is preferred.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
Proven expertise in student engagement leadership development and the of student organization programming
Experience in event planning student leadership or programming is a plus.
A strong background in social media and marketing is a plus.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:


CampusWide Communication and Engagement

Cultivate proactive positive communication with students student leaders faculty and staff advisors within the Center for Student Engagement & Belonging (CSEB) and across campus.
Collaborate with Student Life staff to identify opportunities for crossdepartmental partnerships and shared programming.
Maintain a visible active presence at student programs athletic events and campus initiatives as schedule permits.
Complete additional duties as assigned to support departmental goals.
Administrative Tasks
Submit graphic artist requests for event advertisements.
Submit GetInvolvedMU event requests if needed.
Support a CSEB student worker committee under the guidance of supervisor.
Manage Slack channels to promote events streamline communication with student leaders and provide ongoing support to the CSEB team.
Generate reports and contribute to broader assessment efforts.
Support various administrative projects assigned through Asana.
Create and deliver monthly office newsletter advertising opportunities of engagement and recognition of Maryville community support
Cultural Student Organization Support
Promote the advancement of (cultural) student organizations via program support and training ensuring intentional engagement and leadership opportunities for all students.
Assist with (cultural) student organization leader trainings including planning and followup.
Coordinate with the Office of University Events professional staff across campus and faculty/staff advisors to leverage resources foster new opportunities and provide ongoing guidance to ensure (cultural) student organizations thrive and expand.
Assist in coordinating and supporting the activities of the L.E.A.D. Council helping to ensure effective collaboration across (cultural) student organizations.

Multicultural Scholars Program Responsibilities:


Provide general advising and support to Multicultural Scholars guiding them through their academic and personal development.
Support scholars during Scholars Weekend(s) by assisting with event organization logistics and engagement.
Assist with managing and tracking student progress in meeting program requirements ensuring students remain on track and supported.
Programming Support
Design and implement programming aligned with CSEBs strategic goals supporting both growth and impact of initiatives while collaborating with other campus departments (including Residential Life Student Health & Wellness and Athletics).
Provide support for signature events including CSEB events and CSEBadvised student organization events with dayof setup logistics and teardown (MLK Annual Speaker Dialogue Exchanges Cultural Festival Homecoming UWOW etc..
Assist with offcampus event coverage such as Multicultural Scholars Outings and international outings as schedules allow.
Contribute to social media and marketing campaigns for CSEB including the GetInvolvedMU platform and the CORQ app.
Participate in CSEB meetings training sessions retreats and strategic planning events.
Support the planning facilitation and administration of leadership workshops and retreats.
Assist with Student Life Excellence Award planning and .

Compensation:

  • Stipend for the academic year: $3000
  • Tuition award for the academic year: 12credits

    The award is based on 10 hours per week for 15 weeks each semester. It is expected that students earn their credit hours in the fall and spring semesters by being enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours each semester. Credits must be earned by May 31 each year. Tuition waiver does not cover fees private music lessons books or OneCard charges. Students will receive of their annual stipend during the Fall semester and of their annual stipend during the Spring semester. Each semester the stipend will be divided into 8 payments. Fall stipends are paid on or about September 15December 31. Spring stipends are paid on or about January 31May 15



Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree required
  • Must be accepted and enrolled in theMBA Strategic Communication EdMA Management and Leadership Data Science masters degree program at Maryville University
