Role Overview
The Director of Talent Development (DTD) will establish KPPS as a premiere destination for aspiring teachers and teacherleaders in Philadelphia. The DTD will work with KPPS principals KPPS regional leaders and external partners to enhance codify manage and expand KIPP Philadelphias talent development programs in order to build a robust internal pipeline of talented lead teachers and leaders at KPPS. The DTD will join the Talent Team at KPPS and report directly to the Managing Director of Staff Engagement and Talent Development.
Key Responsibilities
Program Design & Vision
- Partner with the Managing Director of Staff Engagement and Talent Development to develop/redesign and launch programs to support new teachers and staff so that they may thrive and grow within the KIPP Philadelphia community
- Research and assess the quality and impact of current teacher and teacher leader development
- Survey new and experienced teachers on key challenges
- Gather data on teacher turnover trends and student performance
- Conduct focus groups with school leadership teams and directors
- Review any student survey and family survey data to see trends related to strong new teachers
- With the Director of Recruitment and Persistence drive the design of new teacher development alignment with KPPS vision and invest stakeholders in any major shifts to our approach
- Drive the design of teacherleader hiring and development in alignment with KPPS vision and invest stakeholders in any major shifts to our approach
Program Management
- Serve as the central point of contact for program participants schoolbased stakeholders (leaders mentors etc. and external partners (college/universities)
- Properly codify and create/revise (as needed) all core program documentation (including participantfacing school leaderfacing and prospectfacing materials)
- Plan and execute events that build community across cohorts
- Create and manage a yearlong calendar of program events and milestones (developmental arc of the year social events trainings hiring events etc.
- Track program outcomes (survey data observation data) to measure and evaluate overall program success
Training Support and Certification
- Design and facilitate training for school leaders and teacher mentors ensuring all stakeholders have the skills and mindsets they need to support highquality talent development
- Serve as an advisor to program participants through observations onsite touchpoints and office hours
- Serve as a certification expert providing staff with the resources and information needed to successfully obtain certification
- Maintain a certification database to ensure staff is in compliance with certification requirements
Stakeholder Management
- Build and manage relationships with school leaders and external partners to ensure alignment on program goals approaches training content etc.
- Coordinate communication ensuring all stakeholders have the information they need to support highquality
- Collaborate with school leaders and external partners (college/universities) around the growth and development of each program participant and respond to issues that arise when needed
- Partner with the KPPS External Impact team to support fundraising efforts for each program
Qualifications :
Qualifications & Credentials
- Bachelors degree required
- 2 years of experience as an Assistant Principal or similar role (experience leading adults coaching new and experienced teachers leading professional development etc.
- Creativity and critical thinking skills able to set a vision and troubleshoot obstacles to achieve it
- Able to design and facilitate effective professional development
- Personable and approachable; able to build rapport with a variety of stakeholders
- Clear effective communication skills
- Outstanding organization and attention to detail; able to juggle multiple projects and deadlines seamlessly

Compensation
- Salary is commensurate with experience. Ranging from $95000 $115000.
