Description

As Certified Gardener at the City of Stonnington you will work in a diverse range of horticulture settings and join a cooperative and supportive team who possess a broad range of City of Stonnington possesses a diverse range of high quality and wellmaintained open spaces. This role gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your strong horticultural skills to maintain open space to a very high standard whilst working within a positive and supportive team environment.

You are required to:

  • Maintain the City of Stonningtons horticultural & associated assets in a clean green and safe condition
  • Apply your comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the cultural requirements of plants in Our Citys parks reserves and streetscapes.
  • Undertake pruning feeding pest and disease control and manage water requirements
  • Undertake planting in Council owned parks gardens and buildings selecting plants based on horticultural knowledge
  • Undertake control mulching leaf blowing and remove debris including litter and branches
  • Operate horticultural machinery such as leaf blowers hedge trimmers and brush cutters
  • Monitor and report hazards in parks and gardens and respond to enquiries from parks and gardens users

This is a permanent part time position of 3 days per week 22.8 hours) with an annual salary of $72284 $77266 per annum (pro rata for part time) 11.5 superannuation. The work hours for this position are 7am 3.30pm each work day.



Skills And Experiences

To succeed in this position you will need:

  • Maintenance gardening skills capable of caring for a diverse range of open space settings including significant parks and natural environment areas
  • Demonstrated industry experience relevant to municipal horticulture in significant and high profile public gardens
  • The experience and ability to safely operate horticultural tools and machinery in accordance with Safe Work Procedures and Safe Work Method Statements
  • Theability to carry out routine playground equipment inspections
  • Effective communication skills to work cooperatively with staff the community and Council customers.
  • The ability to implement Traffic Management Plans when working within any roadway
  • A relevant Trade Certificate chemical users certificate and competent in the use of relevant mechanical plant procedures and processes used within the unit with substantial relevant work experience
